I have found a few sites that offer manual directory submission and article writing/submission. Are these legit? Will I get penalized for using these as well?

I am looking for free ways to get quality links. I have read all about blogs and articles, but I simply dont know if I have advice that is relevant to promoting my e-commerce site.

I would love to hear ideas and suggestions from those who have built their e-commerce site to have a good monthly profit and have nice SE rankings.

    Thank you.

    Hi Rw,

I haven't seen it mentioned here, so I'll tell ya about a method I use to get some pretty high-PR links..

Hopefully you're using FireFox, and if not then for this you'll have to get it. If you download the add-on "SEO for FireFox" and install it, every time you Google Search something it will give you tons of info under every result, including their backlinks and the exact page they're coming from.

There are tabs for Page links, .gov backlinks, .edu backlinks, and more... I use this to pick off authority links (like .gov and .edu), and most times all you need is a few .edu or a couple .gov links and you're pretty much good.

This is way easier than using other services, and you can rank for your actual product pages really quick, like within a day or two (since they're longer-tailed keywords...assuming this is the kind of store you're operating).

There's software and all that does this too I assume, but this is free and easy. It's really straight-forward too. If you need any help with it, just let me know. I'll try to find the link to SEO for FireFox if you need it as well.

    Hope that helps,
    -Tom

Honestly, your should not have to build links fatly, especially when your domain is new. Building links should be done very carefully and it should look very natural to search engines.
    My link building campaign:

    1) Social bookmarking - 1st step
    2) Directory submission - 2nd step
    3) Article marketing -3rd step
    4) Blog commenting - 4th step
    5) Contextual links from theme related pages - 5th step
    6) Theme related Blog roll links - Last step

You can showcase your products free on the following shopping engines like Google, Bing and The find. Though it won't contribute to search engine rankings, chances are; it can typically boost your traffic (under the proper category and taxonomy of your products) as well as increase your conversion rate.

The best, and most recommended way to build links is to do it naturally. So to make something on your website that will make people want to link to you.

Yes, you are right. But it is batter to buy links from a physical person from your local market.

You can also search the major SEs using your own keywords to find sites related to yours and simply ask them to exchange links with you. Relevancy between your site and theirs is the key. If you're concerned about Page Rank, you want to link to sites, and on pages, that have higher PR than yours.

Yes, I also think that after buying the links, your backlinks will increase very much accidently. And it can make focus google to your site that what happen with it.

You have a lot of options: You can build links using social media marketing, forum posting, blog commenting, social bookmarking, article submission, press release submission, web 2.0 properties creation, video marketing, and many more. Just try to explore in the internet on how you can easily build links and what tools to use in order to gain much traffic.
