Newbee wishing to set up eStore

Hello, I have been starting a business through Ebay so far and would like to create a store or two to create some extra income (and who knows) Typically I invest about 2 to 3 hours a day to keep my ebay store moving but would like to find a good hosting site.

The Question: Of all the ecom sites out there what is an easy to set up storefront? I want to start basic (low cost but high viewability). Any favorites out there?????

Are you wanting a pre-made cart or something that can be customized somewhat easy if you know some code?

Depending on the language, you might check out osCommerce, ZenCart, or X-Cart - they might be able to help you out. I usually deal with ASP carts myself so I am not too familiar with PHP

I know some people poo poo this, but if you already have an eBay store, you can link it up with a ProStores account. That will give you a basic store (or more depending on how many features you want to pay for) to work on for a while.

Assuming you are not selling a large catalog of products or doing anything else particularly unique, I'd agree with dcomisky. A ProStores account will link into the eBay business you are already conducting.

I am a beginner. Friends of mine attended a seminar to learn how to start an estore complete with all the marketing tools needed to be successful. Cost about $4,000 to $6,000. I am asking for your help 101. Is it really that expensive to start making money on the internet?

$90.00 for a shopping cart integration? Yes - that is very cheap. Considering if there are - let's say 10 pages that need to be integrated and you really do not know the design. Even at 10 pages and doing 30 minutes each, that is 5 hours, so the developer is only making about $18 an hour? Usually you would be looking at more like $500 - $2,000 at least for 5 hours of work. Programmers / developers charge vastly different of course and it all depends on their location as well.

One thing - always have a complete scope so there is a meeting of the minds.

Its all about your vision of the store design and business needs. Doing internet business is not costly at all but again when you do business to get more money you have to have better store in terms of products and site design and also ease of use by the user.
