Retail Mortar POS
I'm new but I searched & couldn't find any info about POS systems, software and hardware for a brick & mortar store.
PLEASE HELP! I know nothing about this and really don't even like computers! SORRY! My question: Can I find a system that will cost less than $3000 (windows bundle) for everything I need?
I know what I want: ISBN scanner for my store (start-up, not yet open, book store) so I can scan all my books and know what I have, what was sold and what needs to be ordered. I want this to be integrated with my accounting software so I only have to do things once.
I am on an impossibly small budget and it's just me so any help you can offer is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I did a search on Google for "retail sales and inventory software" (I did not use the quotations) and got tons of results. This is just one that looked like what you want:

Good luck.

Not that one!
Please stay away from that one. I dealt with that company in 2001 and had a nightmare experience. Try checking retail trade associations for suggestions.

Check out Quasar Accounting - http://www.linuxcanada.com
Quasar's base system is free software, but they also offer a point-of-sale system for $400 (for the server app) plus $250 per point-of-sale terminal. Support contracts start at $300 per year.
It's Linux based. I know you asked for Windows, but with this solution you could have a complete solution, including hardware, for around $1,500... and you wouldn't have to worry about those pesky Windows viruses or spyware.

No, you can leave it. Otherwise his post makes no sense LOL.

Being so small, couldnt you just create an access database that will cross reference your data? you can even have it upload into your Quickbooks Accounting Software

Thanks for all the suggestions - the system doesn't have to be windows, but I do not know what sys are avail, etc. I am still researching but I appreciate everyone's comments.
