Getting high page rank in Google means an improvement has occurred in the website and as a result there will be a large amount of traffic in the website too.

Not necessarily. Sites often increase their PR without making a single change ... of any sort.

How does an increase in PR bring more traffic? Please be specific.

I agree with you fully and most of the people believe that the page rank for the site is increased by using the back link but the site content has to be the best.

The importance of PR is a myth generated by web masters trying to sell back links. Site content is king and will be for a long time to come.

It is very alkaline but if you search for anything on google you will determine that pages with mellower PR list higher than pages with lower PR. So much so that even pages that hardly have any mention of the search terms, if their PR is high enough, will still excel lower PR pages that are solely about the search term.

That may be true of some very specific or limited searches and or keywrods, but I assure you, it is not the case with the vast majority of SERPs.

if the backlink profiles of two websites are similar then the one that has the greater pr will rank higher.

but the chances of two websites having similar backlink profiles is very small. concentrate on quality content and the rankings will come...

No consideration for differences in on-page SEO?

From my experience, the site that has done the best job at giving the SEs what they ask for in SEO will get the top spot, regardless of PageRank ... which, BTW, is derived in large part from off-page efforts, like link building. Links are nice, but on-page SEO is tops for top SERPs. PR has very little to do with it and your idea that sites with "equal" link schemes being ranked in oder of PR is ... well, just not so.

Try it yourself with a few keywords and phrases and run the sites that you get on page one of SERPs through a good PageRank tool and see for yourself.

actually since your argument is regarding PR then the original comment stands.... page rank factors include on-page seo. go read a little about page rank on the wiki.

I actually pulled that from one of the better SEO firms website here in oz. I think the most ridiculous point to that is the 'similar backlink profiles' - the chances of 2 websites having similar backlink profiles is tiny given the monumental amount of variables to take into consideration...

but yes on page seo, interlinking, quality content etc should be a focus.

No offence, but I'd rather read what Google, the inventor and owner of PageRank, has to say about PageRank.

PageRank from Google has helped me making my online business a big hit. I have gained better position because of PR. It is a must.

    If you would, please ...

Tell us what your PR is and how your site gained better position because of it.

    Thank you.
