Importance of Forum Signatures

SE's seem to be looking at forums as well as directories fairly big in the past couple of months. The primarily gave links. The links do matter I wouldn't make a business model out of it.

It may have no value for SEO purposes, but a good post has value to other members ... for the information it contains.

Forums were not created so webmasters could get links to their sites or better PR or SERPs for signature links. Forums were created for the exchange of ideas, opinions and knowledge.

I agree. The main purpose of having a forum is for members/users to share their ideas about a certain topic. Most of the time you can find several ideas on forums via a form of questions, comparisons, polls of opinion and as well as debates.

Forum signature is more important to get backlinks.Every signature in the post is a backlink.It helps to increase the pagerank.

It's better to have a goodness reputation and to gain respectfulness in two or three forums than to have signature links in a thousand. IMO, a big part of the rationality the SEs have lowered the inportance of forum sigs is that, by themselves, they are nonmeaningful, insincere and no better than spam.

All the forums in the internet do not give you the permission to have a signature link. But you can submit a link with your signature if the forum locates you to post frequently.

Forum posting is a very crucial thing because search engines put special emphasis on it. If search engine finds that you have done that it will be beneficial for your website.

think you'll find many forums don't allow commercial links in signatures. For instance, of our 30 Internet forums that we publish, this is the only one that allows a signature for a brand-new user. Signature permissions on those forums are granted after the user has posted for a while, and even then, commercial links would be removed.
