    High Enter/Exit from Home Page

I am currently experiencing a high enter/exit rate from the home page of my website. I have spent many hours trying to identify the isse without any success, any input would be greatly appreciated.

I can't speak for anyone else, but there's nothing on the page that makes me want to look any further. What is your target audience and what are you doing to attract them? Where is your current traffic coming from?

I have been conducting article market campaigns since 03/01/2010 submitting about 30 a week. The majority of the traffic is coming from the article marketing campaigns and some from Google

Those flashing red banners make your site look like a spam site. You know the ones where they try to get you to sign up for a series of books on how to make a zillion dollars on the Internet. I saw those and I was gone too.

Your site needs a re-design and you're using tables. My resolution is 1580 X 1050 and your site has an 814px container with tons of gray space on the sides. Why are you not using all of your real estate? Your template is not serving you well.

When I first looked at your site I thought all you offered was Stun guns and/or tasers, then I looked around a bit more and realized that you actually carry allot of cool self defense items. You really should show more on the homepage of what you offer.

One big thing I always do when shopping on line (which is allot) is to look at the "about us" page, I want to know a little about the person or company I'm buying from. It wasn't easy to find but after I did find it and read through it, the first thing I was trying to figure out was why doesn't these guys do something with all the law enforcement experience, Martial Arts training and so on? something more hands-on than selling items on a website.

Aside of that, Show the phone number bigger, get it out there for shoppers to see. Show what forms of payment you accept, is your site safe to shop on? I see no SSL cert. anywhere. Your customers want to know it's safe to buy from you, show them that your serious about their private info and they can trust you, you being a ex-cop and a martial artist won't cut it. You seem to have some youtube videos, get a bit more social - Twitter, Facebook and display those logos on your homepage, especially the youtube videos.

    Stay safe my friend.

    All my best.

    Tim;
That is all great informationan and honestly I am in the process of re-doing the entire website right now. I have picked up anouther 50,000 products ranging from pepper spray all the way to AR-15 law enforcement gun parts.
We also offer gun classes, rape prevention ground fighting, threat assessment training, and security film covering service as well that will all be on the web site.

This is a hugh help to me, it shows me I am thinking on the same line. It's good top get the opinion from an outside source.

    stuntechsd,

How does your site perform in the SEs for your main keywords?

What did you use to code your site? There are some things missing and some I've never seen before.

Why is this url above your header? http://www.mcssl.com/app/join.asp?merchantid=169393 It's not an active link and it appears to lead to a sign up form for your newsletter. However, it also looks like an affiliate link.

I hope I can help. The first impression when I land to the home page is that you desperately want me to pay for something. These big red layers "Buy Today" and "Free Shipping" are killing me. They are even bigger then the products I'm invited to buy.

Suggestion: Create a home page on white background, make it light and put 2-3 images (rotated by a java script for example) which present products. And put much more smaller, but visible "Buy" button.

    Good Luck!

It fails the where the eyes draw to test

My eyes went to the lady, but the lady had no message. the flashing red stop signs told me to avoid the danger and turn around.

Too many messages are crammed into a little space, and the flashing red lights told me to leave.

The html and css is good, but the choice of colors, and message spacing is tight, with vague explanations of what each image represents.

No clear message was transmitted to my mind in 7 seconds.

It's a common mistake when starting out. You really need a marketing plan first, and then you need to execute the plan, and stick to your core product line.

You can have multiple messages in the same container, as long as they are eye catching with a clearly defined message. People will wait for the next message to appear.

If you don't have a marketing plan, we can create one for you, for a service fee.

Defensive products should put your mind at ease because your protected, not generate fear upon just looking at them.

Have any questions, feel free to ask

Ok I agree with everyone here so I'll try to say something new

Try to change the general message of your home page to better reflect your entire offer. Not just self-defense. In the first 5 sec the only thing I saw was a pink pepper spray and it made me believe you had nothing for me (I’m a guy).
Use your home page to redirect customers to general categories like ''home security'', ''self-defense'', ''professional equipment'', ''products for her'', ''products for him''. This way more visitors will be inclined to go through your home page knowing that the next page should have content they’re interested in.

    Voil*!
