Let me close all the myths. Forum sigs are incredibly important. For example, I have received as many backlinks as my posts...I just checked SEOmoz.org and it showed me all the backlinks I have received from this forum. Thank you small business computing :-)

You're welcome but be aware at least some of those are myself and the moderators checking the content of sites linked here. We have to be sure the content isn't something disagreeable

I think forum signature links still count for SEO. If we forget SEO advantage still forums can bring huge referral traffic.

i don't think search engine count all signatures per one forum as 1 link simply that considers an open invitation for spamming which they avoid

It depends more on the forum than on the search engine. Many forums now "wrap" the thread/signature url inside the url for the forum ... i.e. the main domain url. By doing so, they are masking it from the SE bots ... almost as effectively as the "no follow" tag does because the SEs stop at the main domain url.

Signature permissions on those forums are granted after the user has posted for a while, and even then, commercial links would be removed. It probably won't yield the results you want, since I think you'll find many forums don't allow commercial links in signatures. For instance, of our 30 Internet forums that we publish, this is the only one that allows a signature for a brand-new user.

Which do you mean when you say, "those forums"?

Thus speaks the man with thousands of sig-links to his sites! (You might lose your place in serps!)

lol Doubt it. I use the signature links to get traffic, not to maintain top SERPs. Besides, I don't beleive linnks contribute much at all to SERPs. PR, yes, but not SERPs.

That is interesting. I wouldn't have expected much traffic to art sites from webmaster forums!

It's a standard signature in all forums that allow signatures. I put up the two I'm currently promoting ... for sales, not SEO. I don't get much traffic from this or similar fora (less than 5% but I get about 25% of my total from all forums combined, maybe 20 in all.

Ahaa! I can't have reverse-engineered as well as I should have done.

Google does not consider no follow backlinks. What about bing & yahoo? Any article?

Every one know that backlinkwatch.com is used to check the backlinks, but I notice that it does not list all backlinks.
