    LinkedIn Vs Facebook

I leveraged networking sites for one of my clients.
I realized huge difference in the mechanism followed between both of them. Facebook allows latest and unique features on the site making it very user-friendly. On the other hand.. LinkedIn is quite professional in terms of adding connections.. conversing with them(which is nearly impossible)..

IMHO Facebook is a toy while Linkedin at least makes some attempt at being a professional resource so it's a bit like comparing apples and oranges. There is also a Wordpress plugin for it which makes for an interesting blog.

I do prefer LinkedIn for the professional business aspect. Facebook to me is more personal.

I use them both. Facebook seems to be more social while Twitter has more business and networking implications. Linkedin has them both beat for networking for business.

Both the site are very popular social networking sites and each and every day its traffic is growing.
The major difference between the two sites are facebook is such kind of site where the whole family gets registered and they could interact and create the network and it has to be made more user friendly because not all the visitors on that site will know much about the options.

Where as linkinedin is a site with professionals and almost every one in this network are professionals in some or the other industry. Here you can create networks and discuss with the top class professionals. It could be bit more complicated because people who come here are more computer literate.

I agree that LinkedIn gives more of a professional look but as far as face book is concerned I use it both for business and personal networking and in both cases I believe its working pretty well.

Depends what your objective is? If those are business contacts, then LinkedIn. If Internet (Social) marketing, then facebook.

I prefer facebook since you can post updates about your client's site and attach a link to the site almost every now and then. You could also add a fan or friends easily which is a bit hard for Linkedin since it requires that you chat me them or knows them before they would approve your invitation. I also noticed bigger links from facebook compared from Linkedin.

If you are trying to target a younger audience then go with facebook. If you are doing business to business sales or need expert help then go with linkedin. Both can be great tools if used correctly.

I'm finding that as Facebook Groups grow, it is becoming the best place to establish business connections. This is particularly true when used in conjunction with Twitter. Linkedin has provided me with many new personal contacts, but not business.

A little more openness for social sites. Google is trying to get its own beachhead established, and while Facebook stumbles about with its privacy issues, they have the beginnings of something that can be used for ad hoc groups. LinkedIn is still too heavy-handed for my taste, which is too bad because we all have internalized the LinkedIn dance: Update your profile, ask for recommendations, then start looking for a new job. And in the meantime, we have newer social networking sites like Spock to deal with too.

    RE :LinkedIn Vs Facebook

Facebook is not for professional business aspect and its open for all. LinkedIn is one of the best professional business related sites and its quite good.

    Thanks,

Granted, the two networks serve vastly different audiences and purposes: I don't have any incentive to hide my true identity on LinkedIn, indeed, I want to be as specific as possible about my credentials and professional affiliations, because you never know what work might come in as a result. That is the opposite on Facebook, where you don't want unknown stalkers coming by, and where you might want to have multiple identities (if you are a teenager or college student) to see how to take your "friends" to "friends with benefits" level.

Ultimately I think you need to build up a business network in the same way you build up your Facebook network of friends. You write about areas of business or products that will interest people and then people come and join you. If you're an expert on paint ball and you can offer secret hints, tips on paint ball or offer great resources on paint ball then I think that you could do pretty well on Facebook BUT only as part of your marketing.
