I am looking to start a travel website. I want someone to design a travel website or choose from travel website designs or travel website free templates. I have friends who are making a lot of money in the travel affiliates website business and I want to do the same. Does anyone have any idea that can help me out? It could be a good idea to talk with your friends already running such a business. Sure, they may not really like it to get another competitor, but they may be helpful and provide some advise how to start best.

If you don't want to ask, how about to borrow some ideas they use on their websites ? ;-)

Furthermore you should consider that building a new business requires much time, efforts and also some money - even you run an affiliate business (this requires much more time and efforts than money :-)

How I would to it is to spend some time in HotScripts to find best software platform to run it. Also search reviews for those in the net.
Im currently evalutating and writing reviews to Social Networking software platforms so when this process is finished I could take Travel Software platforms for evaluation somewhere in next week.

What kinds of travel options will you offer? A site comparable to orbitz or priceline, for example, or will it be travel info, or...? I suppose it's different for each instance. In addition to borrowing ideas from other websites you might consider an affiliate program with some of them, if you aren't in direct competition.

Find a travel solutions provider... they usually allow you to stamp a third party iframe search engine in your site... but all the content leaves your domain... so your basically getting screwed in the end unless you can scrape the content for your own purposes...

The first thing I would do before starting on the website, is 1 creat a written plan of what you want on your website (think of who your audience is), second start thinking about the look and feel(this is very important that your site be easy to navigate fast downloading and to be understandible I.e proper grammer (english or any other language)
As far as technical issues go I would start off with a template for a quick easy to upload design/layout.
