You run that danger with any online account, eBay accounts are getting turned over all the time but it shouldn't stop you using their service, and it shouldn't stop you using PPC advertising.

For a new web site PPC is about the best way to get immediate traffic, longer term then SEO techniques such as back-links, article distribution and press releases, good web site copyrighting and optimising for search words and terms used by your customers.

Yeah totally agree but its 'buyer beware' and that applies to PPC / CPC as much as anything else. I guess if you are getting targetted by click-fraud then all you can do is either a) use a different form of marketing, or b) use click-tracking software to build up evidence of the abuse and use that to get a refund from Google, or whoever you use for your PPC.

Great idea QuikShop. I'll look at samples of click-tracking software now and see if it's allowed to use that in my accounts.

There are lots of ways to increase traffic to your website and of the most proven and effective way is by building links. You can build links but directory submission, article submission, social bookmarking and posting comments on do follow blogs.

Try blog creation and commenting on other blogs. Participating in forums, Google and Yahoo Groups & Answers. Also you can submit directories, social bookmarking and article directories. That might boost you good traffic and page rank.

Try SEO yourself first, Its not that difficult, get hold of a good book (Market is full of them) and have a go. Also link building in relevant forums, offering good quality free contents and article submissions are very useful.

I always believe that in order to get good traffic is to start with your content. If people find your contents useful and informative then you don't have to do something with your site because they will keep on coming back and rest assured that your site's popularity will increase through word of mouth.

Except all that, you should do keyword optimization.
Use keywords that are specific to the website main theme. In this way, you target specific search queries, what makes possibility to get a click on your website higher.

So if you have a health related website, there is no point to use general keywords, as "medicine" or "pharmacy". Because there are hundreds of millions of webpages that have this words. And if your website has a page rank less than 10, it will just get lost in search results and their will never be a click from the search engine.

Example: there is a purpose to increase traffic of a webpage http://medicationssuppliers.com/add-...directory.html from the health oriented companies.

There is no use to write "submit URL for FREE!!!!!!!"

We write "add medical URL for free", "add medical supplier for free to health directory"
It is also useful to add words as "Blood Pressure Management" or "Diabetes Care Products" - specific words that are included in the directory.

Only thousands are writing "Diabetes Care Products" and people, are looking for this are really looking for diabetes care products. This way there is a chance for a website with PR 3.

If you add a word "Immunoglobulins" to your keywords, there is a chance, that there will be a click one your website. To the webpage with PR less than 10 and with keywords "Submit URL" - there will never be a click!

This way chance to get a click from a search engine is more than 0.

Another way of increasing traffic is to create content through an article which touches on controversial issues in the society. The controversy may even be aimed at a popular or political figure. Although this is a sure way to drive visitors to your site in droves, be sure you can back yourself up with ready information as a large part of the traffic increase to your site will probably be from a differing party. Consequently it is advised that you handle them with expertise.

Forums allow individuals to build trust and familiarity that is normally not present through the Internet. As trust grows, people will click on your signature tag and will purchase your product or service.
