    And here are some thoughts (facts, actually) from those that created Page Rank.

    What would you give me to show that backlinks improve SERPs? Other than your assertion ...

    it has to be sum of all the factors, we can not talk about the content on page, without linking it from other websites, 2 websites with similar amount of relevant contents, one with strong back links one with no, its obvious which is going to rank higher

    How do backlinks contribute to higher placement in organic search? Many make the claim but no one, so far, has offered any substantiation.

    I am confused. The Old Sarge, are you implying that getting backlinks has no affect on SERP.

    In the link you posed above: here

    The first link says "Rank" and it clearly states "In general, webmasters can improve the rank of their sites by increasing the number of high-quality sites that link to their pages."
