    Newb Question - What's Next

I've been building sites for awhile and a friend asked me to build them an online store. I"ve never done it but thought it would be fun so I started.

The product catalog is done, the shopping cart is done and I'm starting on the user registration/check out and wondered about payment gateways, processors and the like and wondered if there were any suggestions for a newb.

    What's next?

    TIA/Duval

A lot depends on what your particular cart system supports and how much your client is willing to spend. Personally I like Authorize.Net purchased through eonlinedata systems but I would recommend a multi-payment solution. You can use checks, fax orders, Pay Pal and others. I would give your customers a choice and depending on your product line I think you'll find most will pay by credit card. So Pay Pal Pro would work as well as a merchant solution such as Authorize.Net. If you need more information on Authorize.Net, PM me.

Thank you Roban for your time in replying. As far as what the cart system will support.... it's just carrying the product information (id, quantity, product name, product description, product options, and prices) in session variables so I'll have to put it into a format that makes sense for the next process.

I'll check out Authorize.net and PM you if I have any questions.

    Thanks again, Duval.

Roban, where is the pm button? I'm not seeing it in your post or on your profile.

Perhaps it's restricted to members with a specific number of posts.... or I'm just a/an ______________ (fill in the blank).

Just click on my name and you'll see the drop down of options.

    Hi, Duval

I use the built-in features coming with zen-cart for PayPal and MoneyBookers payment gateway. They both works well for me. I think you could get the code for integration into your e-commerce sites from all those payment gateway companies.

    Have a nice day,

    Hi Duval,

I agree with Roban. Authorize.net is a good choice as well as e-online data or Merchant Focus for a merchant account. Both offer a discounted Authorize.net gateways with their merchant accounts.
