    Gift Registry Functionality?

I've been wanting to add gift registry functionality to my website for a long time since I sell a lot of baby products on my site, and recently someone recommended using myregistry.com as the registry provider since they are a universal gift registry site.

Does anyone have experience with using myregistry.com's registry web widget for merchants? Also, what are the pros and cons of a universal gift registry versus a regular store registry? Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm not at the point where I can start thinking about adding a registry to my site yet, but I have a friend who recently did the free trial of the myregistry widget on his website.

So far from what I hear it's working out well for him. Basically the difference between a universal registry and a regular one is that the universal registry sites let registrants add items to their registry from any store as opposed to adding items from just the one store.

So if you use this type of registry, customers will be able to add your products to one registry at myregistry.com that has products from other stores on it as well. This can be an advantage from the seller's prospective because if you aren't one of the big registry places like bed bath and beyond, people will be more inclined to register for items from your store since they won't be forced to find everything they need in one place.

But like I said, my friend is doing a free trial, so it can't hurt to just try it out and see how you like it. Sorry I can't offer first hand experience!

    RetailRookie/Seller44,

Registering with two IDs is against forum rules. So is starting posts with the express purpose of promoting any certain product.

One of your incarnations has been banned and since you turned off PMs, you'll have to figure out which one from this thread. Please behave.
