Help with Shoppig cart Selection
Hi Guys,
My first post here and new to e-commerce, so please forgive me if some of the information seems a little vague or not too technical.
I am looking for a shopping cart that can add bonus quantity to an order based on how many of that item is ordered. I am trying to get Buy 3 get 1 free or buy 2 get 1 free. Many of the shopping carts I looked can do that but the wrinkle is that they usually do that based on a percentage discount. But that's not what I need. Maybe this table will explain what I need
Buy 3 Get 1 Free
-------------------
Order Extra Total
1 0 1
2 0 2
3 1 4
4 1 5
5 1 6
6 2 8
7 2 9
8 2 10
9 3 12
10 3 13
You can see the pattern here. So the question is: what shopping cart(s) will allow me to do this?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

CS-Cart will do that. It has a Promotions module.

Hi,
There are a number of shopping cart software solutions existing in the marketplace: some are free, many are paid. The simplest shopping cart software of all is not a shopping cart at all. It is simply putting up "buy now" buttons from a third party payment provider like PayPal.
Thanks.

Have you found a cart yet?

Promotional modules
I would not select a shopping cart for that one feature. You will really be backing yourself into a lot of other features that may not be the best for you. I have worked on a lot of carts and all the major ones now have options for multi-item pricing. In any of these you could say "2 for the price of 1" and just sell two for the price of one, etc. If you ever change your promotion, you will be stuck with the rest of the cart. Also you can always hire a developer to code in something like that for an hourly rate.

My suggestion
I would use Prestashop.com
its free, opensource, php and css based, w/ ajax.
And it is getting better all the time.
People contribute tons of modules for free and some paid ones.
I have a couple sites using prestashop and I love it and so do my customers
I teach people how to make a great online store with prestashop and they love it
its easy to use and get started with and SEO friendly.
Magento is another good one, but i dont like it because its bloated and crashes so so so easily.
Hope I helped.
