POS System for a grocery store

    Hi folks,

I am looking for a POS system which I can use in a grocery store/convenience store that isn't too expensive.

One of my main criteria's is that it provide me with a list of items to see current stock levels. I know quickbooks has that and is available at sam's club but I am trying to see what alternatives are out there. I am hoping for a cheaper option. Any recommendations?

    Hey,

If you want options regarding a potential for your business, check Geminicomputers.com - pos software, full systems, MSR Tracks, card swipers, signature pads, etc. At very least it should get you some ideas and information.

    Cheers!

There are various places from which you can get the software. OpenBravo POS serves good one. These systems include functionality for both checkout at the point of sale as well as back-office administration. This is an excellent software which has saved my business.

When you plan to buy for POS software, always look for help from reputable vendor that can discuss the different features of the software that might help you decide if it is a perfect fit for your business.

I agree with liamhowell above. the best way to find the right POS for you is to chat to people, either the manufacturers or other users. The manufacturers will probably have reps that can come and demo the units to you so take this opportunity to quiz them and make sure it is the system for you.

You need something that's going to allow you to communicate to the main headquarters, handle data entry and scan bar codes. Something that's easy to manipulate and DURABLE! It has to be a combination between a tablet/mobile phone and walkie talkie!
