Total newb to ecommerce--starting with nothing
I've been trying to get something started for 3 weeks now. I have received a lot of information, done so much reading that my head feels like a scrambled egg. It seems everywhere I look, it requires an initial investment. I really like what Worldwide Brands has to offer, but I don't have $279 to get that just yet. Just to make myself clear, what I have today is just enough to pay bills and eat until next payday. So, in other words I have nothing. I am starting with nothing, looking to put the time (as I already have) into turning it into a little bit of something, invest that into turning into more and ultimately accomplish something profitable. I have a storefront on ecrater and a paypal account and nothing to post. What I need is definitive answer as to just what I can do to make [emp]something[/emp] happen today. And remember. I am broke. That doesn't mean I might be able to manage $50, $10 or $2 for the right deal. That means I am broke. I am looking to accomplish something today for my effort but no money.

You don't tell us anything about the product you want to sell, if you have a domain and a host. Need more information. OK so you don't have any $$$ but what DO you have?

In my post I said that I have an eCrater storefront and a PayPal account. I would like to sell down-filled products. Comforters, winter coats and vests. That is something I can pursue once I get something to develop. Right now I just want to get something. I don't know who I can get dropshipping from that won't charge me anything today. I've checked out DOBA. A lot of what they sell isn't wholesale, some of it is even above retail. They offer a 14 day trial, but I also want results.

Also, no I don't presently have a domain name. I plan to, later at a time when I have money to do that. It can't happen today.

Finding drop shippers for your product is a matter of doing research. I had to do that for my vitamin shop. My suppliers don't charge anything until I place an order. They are out there. You just have to find them and that takes a lot of looking.

Roban is right. My personal site is all drop ship products. It takes a lot of research to find the right products, from the right vendor. Many vendors will drop ship now a days, but be aware that a lot of them may require a minimum purchase.

If you do get up $279 bucks in my personal experience its worth it. There's tons of wholesale suppliers on there.
1 word of advice from Chris Malta (One Source/ Worldwide Brands) is that if a "whole saler" requires a setup fee or a monthly fee or something along that line then they are probably not a wholesaler but a middle man.

If you are absolutely broke it will be very hard for you to get something started. You can find companies to drop ship for you, but you still need to get a business license and and a Tax ID for these drop shippers to do business with you.
You may want to just start selling things around your house on CraigsList and build up a little savings then pursue your business idea. CraigsList is free and very easy to use.
