    Quality Backlinks

Where do you really obtain quality backlinks, when you search the subject it seems like everything is a scam. Also, is it possible for a competitor to sign you site up to blacklisted backlink sites to drag your site ranking down ?

    Thanks George Susini

You don't create back links. You get other site owners/Webmasters to do it on their sites.

Some of the ways you can advertise your business are:
    1. Post an article about your business on related blogs and get free visitors and back links
    2. Submitting to directories
    3. Free classifieds
    4. Forums

    hi.

Building Quality backlinks is one of the most important factors in Search Engine Optimization.
It is not enough just to have a lot of backlinks, it is the Quality of backlinks along with the Quantity that help you rank better in Search Engines.

A backlink could be considered as a Quality Backlink if

    1. The Theme of the backlinking website is the same as your website.
    2. It links to your website with the keyword (keyphrase) that you are trying to optimize for.

This tools searches for websites of the theme you specify that contain keyphrases like "Add link", "Add site", "Add URL", "Add URL", "Submit URL", "Add Article" etc. Most of the results could be quality potential backlinks.

    Importance of Backlinks
This article will explain to you what a backlink is, why they are important, and what you can do to help gain them while avoiding getting into trouble with the Search Engines.

I don't think compitior can blacklist others site.... If so, there were/are/will be no more successful stories of huge business in this world.... That cannot be done...... but, google penalty is there... (That is a differnet story)

Also, to get backlinks I am using the following ways, however, I cannot figure out which is the best, So, I use everything:
    Blog commentings
    Forums postings
    Social bookmarks
    Article Submissions
    Directory submissions

I think what George means is that a compettor can submit your site to directories that are known 'bad neighborhoods' in order to destroy your credibility and lower your PR ... even get you blacklisted by the reputable SEs.

That's one of several reasons we no longer list with directories that do not verufy the submission.

SEOmoz.org has a great tool called the "Juicy Link Finder". I can't remember if it's a free tool or a paid tool, but we use it all the time for figuring out where the best places are to get not only good links, but sites to get links from relating specifically to topics you want to rank for.

This forum is a good example. Through a search in the above mentioned tool, it said this site was a great place to get links from, therefore we signed up for an account and will now become a constant contributing member.

Granted links from forums, are watered down and don't help all that much, but every little bit helps. Besides, contributing to forums will get you direct traffic, and can DEFINATELY turn into business for you down the road.

I'm not affiliated with SEOmoz.org in any way. We actually pay for their premium content and tools, so I'm technically one of their "clients".

Only problem that I can see with SEOmoz is the fact that all the good stuff is reserved for paid members. At their prices, small businesses are not likely to benefit from the site.
