In House or Hosted E-Mail?

Hey guys I wanted to get your thoughts on this. In this article, using an outsourced e-mail provider versus keeping it in house is discussed:

What do you guys think? What do you use? Are you happy with your service?

I suppose it depends on how large a company you are, how many accounts you need to set up and what functionality you are looking for. For a small company with fewer than 10 employees using the service I could see using a shared Outlook on an Exchange Server plus there is software that can be used to avoid having to use an Exchange server as well. Workgroupshare and ShareOutlook comes to mind.

This is an interesting question.... as Roban has mentioned, it depends on how large your company is, which will determine what type of infrastructure is needed and also how much the company has in funds to back this up.

In my own business I have been using Google Apps as my mail server. Most people who email me don't even know that because it's still showing [email protected]

The beauty of using Google Apps is it's free and they give you up to 5GB of space now, which is ample! For 3 years now I have not deleted any emails from my account and with a quick search I can find anything within. I'd suggest you take a look as it can be a good solution without the unnecessary costs.

I had no idea that Google allows you to use custom domains. I wonder if it could be a viable solution for medium to large businesses.

I have an HTML feedback form for my website. I want to send the input values of this form directly to my google mail. I have google hosted email for my domain. What do i do? I do not want to use any email software like outlook.
