    ecommerce site features

For those of you that have been in the ecommerce (online retail) for a while; what are the features that you have implemented on your site or what are some of the features that you wish you had on your site. Here are a few that I can think of:

    “Join Our Newsletter” form
Product page to have multiple “views” of product
    Customer “account creation”
Trouble ticket creation form (customer can login in to see our response)

I have all those except the last because I never have trouble.

One that every e-store owner wants is an easier and faster checkout process but with all of the information that has to be collected I don't see it ever being really fast.

I've always been needy/greedy for back-end information analytics. What are my customers doing? What pages are they viewing and for how long? What are the average order sizes based on different marketing channels? The list goes on but the main idea is having customer/visitor insight to make statistically informed marketing decisions that make money immediately.

Regarding the checkout process, I need a checkout funnel to see where/when/why visitors abandon the cart. Then, trying to find ways to improve the process and widen the funnel.

We are looking into getting an faq section for one of our sites to help handle customer service related inquiries.

BasicEcommerce, what analytics software are you using by the way?

natashah3 - I'm currently using Google Analytics and Coremetrics. I have used NetSuite as a CMS and plan on using Omniture next year. Each system has its pros and cons.

Flexibility to change the way a product looks and the checkout process to improve conversion rate.

Ability for customer service to place orders in the administrative back end and make changes to the order easier than going through the customer side front end of the site.
