What are some creative ways to increase traffic and conversions to/in your site?

I usually hear the same old things, interested in hearing what someone else has to say.

The usual:

1.) Adjust Meta Tags
2.) Trade Links
3.) Blogging

-Checking up on your cart abandonment. Either by personally calling them, or offering them coupons or discounts via email.
-Data mining previous customers. Search for customers that purchased X product and offer them Y product at a discount. You can also offer coupons/discounts for their friends to use. Special offers go a long way.

You forgot #4 of the typical advices: Add contents

But believe it or not, this works best :-)

Start a bi-weekly/monthly newsletters giving away some incentives (e.g. free shipping, 5% off your next bill).

Set up your own affiliate program. This is a good way for serious link building as well.

Spend some time and mental energy with site analytics.

Have you tried to submit your products to Google Base? It's free and should generate more traffic. If you've submitted an effective feed, you should see an increase in traffic.

If you can create product reviews and product comparisons on your site, you should see higher conversions too. Possibly writing stronger or more compelling content may give your visitors the confidence they need to purchase from you. Offering more payment methods may increase your conversions too.
