Looking for tips for my site

I'm looking for ways to improve the conversion rate of my site.
At this time it about a 2.2% conversion rate. Please check
the site out and let me know if you have any ideas.
    Thanks

From what I have heard, 2.2% is not a bad conversion rate (I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong). One thing you could do to possibly increase it, is to allow anonymous checkouts. I do not really want my personal information on a bunch of sites where I may never shop again.

    Thanks for the tip JEccles,
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by a anonymouse check out. We need to get the persons shipping info to send the items to them. Can you explain a bit more.

On the conversion rate issue, it seems like we get alot of people to the check out page and then the opt out. I'm not sure why. Right now we are averaging about 450 visits per day. Our season only lasts a few months, and I would love to be able to capture more orders during those summer months.

    Thanks

    I also think that a conversion rate of 2 % isn't bad - it's really acceptable :-)

Have you thought about implementing a survey into your shopping system ? Something that opens a pop-up window asking for the reason when people quit the shopping tour without checking out ?

But personally I think that this is not unusual as well. Sometimes people just are going shopping for fun and build their "dream cart". Or use the shopping basket as some kind of wish list they print out for later reference.

An anonymous checkout would be one where the customer can enter there billing/shipping information without having to create an account. Take a look at the check outs on either of my stores, or for that matter check out a big retailer like JC Penny. They offer a "quick" checkout that is anonymous. Another thought, have you given any consideration to offering a Price Match service? Do you send out newsletters and include special discounts?

The site is not converting well because it is not appealing, does not flow well and is difficult to navigate. The pages are too busy and cluttered. The check out page is also too cluttered and disorganized. It gives the appearance of a garage sale, not a high quality retail store. There is also what I call "happy talk" on the homepage. Happy talk is the "bla bla bla" of a company going on and on about how wonderful it is and how it is committed to this that and the other thing. Customers who visit your site do not care how wonderful you think your business is and they certainly do not want to read about it on the homepage. They have a goal: on your site it is to find a product and purchase it. Anything else on the site that does not help them find what they are looking for and easily buy it is just getting in their way and making them frustrated.

I recommend having this site redesigned. Also, read through this article:

Let me know if I can help,
