    Question Database outsourcing

    Y'ello people.
I'm new here but did not get a thread for introduction so I'll include my introduction here. I'm also relatively new to the business world and maybe to e-commerce in general.

Recently, i got the idea of possibly be a service provider on data management and administration for firms. what do you guys know about data management outsourcing? is it possible.

    Thank you

Sure it's possible, but there are several problems. For one thing, the data warehouse needs to be local to the business to minimize time loss involved in retrieving/adding. That in itself is not a dealbreaker, because you can still manage the data from afar.

What kind of data and business processes do you want to outsource ? Compare the costs between an in-house solution and the outsourcing one, then decide.

Also ask yourself the question, what happens in case the outsourcing company goes into bankruptcy. Are there backups available ? How would this impact your business ? If it is critical to your business, then you should be sure about the reliability of this company (usually they will offer an insurance for such cases as well to cover your expenses in case of (longer) downtimes).
