Need Help with Commission Junction
Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to get my site out there and I was wondering if any of you use commission junction and if you like it. I've applied and can't seem to get them to call me back. I'm also considering advertising in some specialized magazines for hunters, hikers, fisherman, etc. Any suggestions? I currently have an adwords campaign going but I'm looking for further exposure. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I've never heard of them. You may want to try Shopzilla or other shopping sites. Good exposure at reasonable pricing. Shopmania has a program that allows you to upload your products at no cost - you just need to put their link onto your site.

Thanks J Eccles. I appreciate the suggestion and have just entered my information with Shopmania and I have an account with Shopzilla an I'll revist my inventory that I've submitted to them. Commission Junction basically networks you with publishers that promote your site and in return you pay the promoter a commission only upon the sale of your product. I like the idea of Pay Per Sale.
Thanks for your help

Get as much exposure in ALL of the various shopping engines before turning to Commission Junction (CJ).
I've used CJ for a couple businesses and it is much different than initial expectations. More than anything, it is a relationship with your publishers. Not like display ad marketing where you make your banner and it posts to sites. You have to work on relationships and convince publishers to post your ads instead of others. This is a network where the publishers have the power and deciding factor as to what moves and what doesnt.
CJ is also pretty expensive. I believe its a minimum $6k to get started. This includes a $3k set up fee and $3k to last for 6 months (have to meet $500/month minimums). Its all in the 'fine print'.
Although its a lot of money, it can be worth the investment. Like I said, I've used it for a couple of businesses and saw poor results from one and phenomenal results on another.
P.S. - CJ works best if you have a well-known brand name/store name.

BasicECommerce,
Wow! Thanks so much for the information. I had no idea of the start up cost-I couldn't get them to even call me back with that information. I will try other sources of marketing my site. You've been very helpful.
Thanks & Have A Great Day
