    Manufacturer contracts?

    Hi,

I'm in the process of setting up my site now and I'm researching manufacturers. I'll be selling hand made furniture and custom items and know I want to use the drop ship method. I don't know any more than that! Do I sign a contract with these people? Do they get paid when I get paid? Most of these folks are small companies made up of artists and designers, not big drop ship firms.

    Thanks.

I'm working on getting my home decor site ready to go live at the end of the month and we will be using drop shippers. Your best bet is to research manufacturers and artists whose work you like and see if they provide a drop ship program or are willing to work with you on shipping small quantities of products out. Most will just have you fill out and application that includes your tax numbers and sometimes your resale number. Any reputable company will as you for those. Some will have minimum $$ amounts per order but watch out for ones whose numbers are too high.

    good luck.

We manufacturer home decor at our farm here in Idaho and just begun drop shipping for a couple sites a couple of months ago . Most of the time they sell 1-10 per week which at this time we have no issue with . I am sure in the future we notify and drop some of the less productive websites we drop ship for but currently we produce 10X what we drop ship .
I consider each of these websites like sales reps . As drop-shipping approaches as maximum capacity we will probably contact them and do something different . Each website tends to get different clients and run in different circles . I am sure they will eventually compete against each other .
