Hmmm....that link appears to be the same as the one that is quoted as having issues with the scam/ripoff report sites. i checked the footer and " Copyright © 2003-2006 DropshipDesign.com LLC. All rights reserved." is there so it looks like it is the same service. How long have you used the service? Can you list the supplier programs that are in the program, so people can view the options before they pay?

I personally don't trust storefront solutions as many of them either middlemen or their products are too expensive to make any real profits. Doing business online is just like doing business offline. If you think about it, every brick and mortar business needs to be legal first in order to start. That means you have to file for licenses, permit, tax ID, etc... If you're not legit then you're not really getting the real wholesale price which means some of your profits are going straight into the pockets of middlemen.

If you really want to start your own ecommerce their is really one way to go. That means you need to find real wholesalers and real drop shipper. Real wholesalers/dropshipers don't required any membership fees!

After you signed up with them you and use open source solutions like oscommerce to setup your store. They let you customize your store 'til you feel it fits you. It's really not that hard. Also, if you don't want to learn coding or need to setup your store right away you can buy templates to set up your store but going this way will limit the look of your site. Another way is to go to websites like elance.com or rentacoder.com and have them design a unique template for you to use.

Somebody mentioned here that people don't want to spend money to get wholesale lists but I think it's really a part of doing business. You can't expect to start a business and not cough up some money. It just doesn't work that way. I found this wholesale/dropship review site if anyone wants to check it out. let-us-review.com/wholesale_and_dropship_reviews.html

Always remember, you get what you pay for. Here's a quote I like to live by.
"Good work isn't cheap and cheap work isn't good"

"You can't expect to start a business and not cough up some money. It just doesn't work that way."

----It can work that way if you are willing to put in some time. Also, I would recomend CRE Loaded or Zen Cart over oscommerce. They are based on the osCommerce platform, but most of the mods are already installed so there is no need to pay so much for programming. Also, Zen has a collection of free templates for the site.

----I like "Information should always be free." There are resources with free dropship supplier information. And many of the open source carts also have free support or forums. My other fav is "Good, fast, cheap....pick two" With the open source carts you can have a great site with little to no cost....but you might need to put in some time to learn the cart or build it if you do not want to pay to have programmers make changes more quickly.

better luck with that with the smaller dropship programs

Well....a dropship wholesale program is a distribution company. All they do is stock and ship. They ship millions worth of products, so they should be able to get better shipping costs with the major firms like DHL, UPS, FedEx, etc....the question is if they pass the cost to you when they charge for shipping.

For the major accounts, i dont think they would take the time to bill the shipping based on your FedEx account. If you go to a small dropship program with 30 to 150 or so products, then maybe you can get some special agreement with them.

Its worth your time to check with some of these programs and see what their shipping costs really are compared to your rate. Some also offer free shipping based on sales level...so it might not be that big of an issue for you.

If you are confused about the website options available out there, you may want to ask your wholesaler! A true wholesaler wants you to be successful, and knows that what you need in order to more successfully sell their products. Even though the wholesaler itself may not be a website provider, odds are, they know where you can go to get the quality of product and service required at a reasonable price. Your wholesaler does not want you to spend thousands of dollars on a site when you don't have to; that's money you won't have to invest in product, or advertising.

As for the shipping question (will they ship on my FEDEX acct?), the answer is usually no for an established wholesaler-First of all, odds are extremely good that the wholesaler has negotiated much better rates than the rates you receive because of the sheer volume of orders they ship. Secondly, many shipping processes are automated; having to ship on your account would require manual intervention on every one of your orders. Wholesalers often have many thousands of resellers, and to have to do manual intervention on all their orders would drive up labor costs in such a way that the wholesaler would not be able to give you such a good price for the products.

    Albany Distributing, DropShipDesign and Doba

Albany Distributing, DropShipDesign.com are the best two to choose from. I highly recommend staying away from Doba. Doba charges expensive monthly fees and their prices are nowhere near wholesale as they claim. DropShipDesign charges a yearly fee that ranges between $49 and $199. Albany Distributing as far as I know does not have a monthly or yearly fee, if anything they charge a starter fee of $29 to open an account.

The differences between DropShipDesign.com and Doba:
Drop ship design offers drop ship packages, a lot cheaper than Doba's packages and DropShipDesign has better wholesale prices. If you are building a website, you can do that with DropShipDesign, Doba does not give you that ability. I recommend Drop Ship Design.

The difference between Albany Distributing and DropShipDesign and Doba
DropShipDesign and Doba do not warehouse any of their items, they are both truly a middleman. Companies like DropShipDesign and Doba will buy their products from various drop shippers (personally I know for a fact that doba is buying from Albany...the packing slip I received in the box was the same as what Albany includes haha, easy giveaway). Although I don't like buying from middleman distributors like DropShipDesign or Doba, I really don't mind DropShipDesign since they are NOT marking up the wholesale cost from distributors......the fee you pay yearly is how they are making money.

    In Summary:
    Try Albany Distributing
if you need some guidance with a website, I believe Albany still does websites, if not, you can still do a site through DropShipDesign and then go direct with a distributor like Albany after you get your feet wet a little.

Maybe you could try aliexpress.com . It's more of a directory of suppliers mainly from china but there are some that dropship. As for the storefront, your best bet would be to find a supplier with a product database that you can use with whatever platform you decide to sell on whether it is oscomerce or otherwise. That way the design of the site can be unique and not such a cookie cutter which you'll get with turnkey packages IMO.

    Hi
I believe ******* will do that for you.. not sure... As I remember though it allows you a small product line say 70 products... Again.. working from memory.. BUT saw the owner on a talk show one time.. cool guy.. so I have faith in that company. but may need more than that for product. Also have my own cart and can handle HTML and stuff.. so I am looking for dropshippers too but like you try to avoid the scams.. Good Luck

Drop shipping can occur when a small retailer who typically sells in small quantities to the general public receives a single large order for a product. Rather than route the shipment through the retail store, the retailer may arrange for the goods to be shipped directly to the customer. Drop shipping is also very common with big ticket items like steel buildings where the retailer will take a deposit and have the building shipped direct to the buyer's building site from the supplier's manufacturing facility.

    frankingmachine,

I don't think that's the type of drop shipping we're talking about here.

I used one called Doba.com. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN - THEY ARE MIDDLEMAN. A good source to use is Albany Distributing. Their site is http://www.albanydistributing.com. I have been using them for over a year now and been completely satisfied and their prices are MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better than Doba. Doba’s prices are going to be higher than anyone. I actually believe that Dropshipdesign and Albany Distributing is filling orders for Doba. Just stay clear away from Doba. I hate them!!!!!!!!!!

In any event if you’re just starting up or already established, Albany Distributing is real good one. You’ll gain on their $3 shipping on every order regardless of size and they ship with Fedex.
I use them for all kinds of electronics and appliance products. I think in their last data file they had well over 11,000 products.
If you want over a million items, dropshipdesign.com will have everything just like Amazon. I know their feedback is exploded all over the web, but they are legitimate. You’ll just want to compare prices because Albany winds up being cheaper. Signing up and comparing prices is the best thing.
Another benefit of dropshipdesign is that they will offer you tools to automatically add your items to ebay which I love.
They have a setup fee I believe whereas Albany charges nothing to resell their items.

Here are the sites and both are validated.
www.DropShipDesign.com they are legit I checked them with Seattle Corporations.
www.AlbanyDistributing.com they have an A+ rating on BBB as well which increased my confidence
