My turn for "vacation"
Well, the time has come for the annual hunting migration.
Tomorrow just after daybreak I'm off to the mountains for 6 weeks. Deer, elk, bear, various grouse species, maybe a bit of trout fishing to break the monotony.
Part of this trip will include a horse-back into some very remote, very rugged country for several days. Can't wait!
I'll be popping in and out every week or two as I need clean clothes.

6 weeks. Awesome. Enjoy! I do treasure venison so put a bag away with my name on it.

Would be a long way to ship it. You're only about 2 hrs from me, but a long way from Sarge.

Then may I suggest a relay?
-
That sounds - like an amazingly fun vacation! Hope you really enjoy it!

Sure, but you'll have to meet me at the city line. I don't own a car anymore.

I was born and grew up in Idaho and have been on and off horses all my life.
This trip is my annual hunting affair. That's also a family tradition. We've been hunting the same area since the 1920s. Well, I've only been hunting it since the late 50s.
Home this weekend to exchange some dirty clothes for some clean and to stock up on things I forgot to take the first time. It's about three and a half hours by pickup truck from home to base camp, so I'll be taking off again about 1 pm today.
Roban,
I could probably send you some deer or elk sausage packed in dry ice. Fresh cuts would not make the trip so well I fear. I'll check with UPS and FedEx to see how much it would cost.

Deer or elk sausage. Now that's a new one on me Sarge. How much sausage can an oldSarge stuff in 6 weeks. Thanks for the thought M8.

Ok, I'm finally back.
Saw some beautiful country and lots of wildlife ... deer and elk, of course, bears, bobcats, foxes, coyotes, mountain lions, even a wolf. It was a very enjoyable, if tiring trip. The horses acted like they had very little sense and my butt is saddle sore.
The wife got a bull elk and as did a couple of others in the group. We all got deer, mine the biggest I've taken in a couple of decades.
Roban, I was serious about the meat. You interested?

What about photos? Don't suppose you took a camera hunting, eh?

That sounds like the perfect holiday for you and your wife. I am impressed that your wife got bull elk. We'll be treating her with the utmost respect.
I'm serious Sarge. Awfully nice of you to remember. Let's make a plan.

Photos! Yes, I forgot about those. Let me transfer them from my mobile phone to my computer ... (I used the phone cuz it was smaller and easier than the camera.)
