I need to implement a KVM switch into a 43 workstation native windows network using 3 servers (2 file and one print server). The network is a switched star that has two 48 port switches for expandability of which switch 1 has 15 free ports and switch 2 has 27 free ports. The KVM switch is for server management from a single console. Do I have to punch-down the 2 switches to 16 ports, connect the work stations to the KVM? Can I simply cable the KVM switch to one of the original 48 port switches and to the 3 servers?
