Website template troubles.

Short and to the point:

Using Prostores e-commerce template, the product entry wizard allows you to enter your product information, picture, price, etc. The template however only allows for 1 picture and the description text format cannot be edited. For example, what you type in, other than Caps, is not displayed on the website page. The text just wraps, not even any spaces. I email and call tech support and the only thing they will tell me is that they will not help with any coding. The store design wizard allows you to design the general pages, but you cannot access the actual HTML page to edit the way text is displayed. My question is this: Is there something I am misunderstanding? I understand it is their template, however should I not be able to edit the text and format of my descriptions? On other sites, is this possible?

On these template sites, is it their way or build your own? If I built my own, does that mean I have to manage my own database?
