eCommerce for Multi-Site Application?
I am looking to set up a network of sites on different domains that will share a common inventory backend and gateway, but display different products on each of the domains.
Some of these sites might be in different languages, but if there is an affordable solution that allows for the multisite option, then the language part is unimportant.
It seems that most ecommerce solutions offer only single domain carts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I don't know a lot about this, but couldn't you have each product from each site directed to one basket?

Shopping cart
We want visitors to stay within a single site during their entire experience and not see another domain or company name somewhere else. If we have products forward to another site's cart, they would have to leave our site, or we would have to set up frames, and we want to avoid both of those things.

Try going here, and asking. Someone would be able to tell you if it's possible.

My 2 Cents
Hi,
I know for sure that Everest E-Commerce which is shopping cart application of the Enterprise suite version of Everest has capability to add multiple websites pointing to same inventory location and sell on 2 diff domains ...
If you find other shopping carts we can still develop some custom tools that can integrate and sync inventory so shldn't be a problem it all depends on cost/budget ...

We're actually exploring the same solution. Currently we're kinda stuck tho. Considering using either ASPdontnetstorefront or Aceflex and having them do some custom development to integrate the back-end -- but it would require purchase of individual licenses each time we want to add a store, which can add up quick so we're looking for alternatives..

Multi-language and multiple domain sites can be done with Magnetcommerce but I am not quite sure that having different parts of the inventory on different sites can be achieved without extra licenses.

Hi, In fact we are almost completed with one of these versions. Will be launched in 45 days. Multiple sites, multiple domains, multiple IP addresses and ONE ADMINISTRATIVE PANEL controlling all the sites including the product catalog and order management.
The software has high end data sync features and each of the sites can have the same product database or different ones. If it is the same database, then one can also have different prices for each of the sites.
If interested, please email me and we will make a full fledged presentation of all the features of the individual sites as well as the combination.

What server side langauge are you looking for? We developed one in ASP using MSSQL. It works with the LinkPoint gateway currently while each user an have his / her own paypal account and it connects to Fed Ex, USPS, and UPS

Concoreland, there is no advertising or soliciting permitted on the forums. I had to remove both your posts. Thank you for complying in the future.

This is something that we've done for some of our clients. They have purchased only one store and have multiple domains that are 'skinned' and have a totally different template than the other domains. This is something that is already supported and in use. Since there is only one store, there is only one back end and inventory to track.
The downsides to this solution are that the url to the checkout area can't change, you are allowed only one merchant account, and html template knowledge is required. All you would need to do is build the skins or templates for each site and depending on the store the customer is coming from, the unique skin template is applied during checkout.

I would probably recommend x-cart pro. Pro is more of a shopping Mall like amazon. Each "proprietor" lists their products in the cart. when their product is purchased, they will be notified. If a user selects a product from each vendor, then each vendor will fill that product ordered. The "Master" admin has full control of the cart
