Ecommerce or Ebay?
Hey!
I want to ask you guys what do you think is better sell on ebay or have your own ecommerce?
i never had lot of success with my own ecommerce websites (ex. of my last ecommerce: www.wipimobile.com) but i do have success with ebay.
it seems the people prefer to buy on ebay, they know it, they trust it, etc..
what do you think?? do you have success with your sites?

Let me guess, you're a northerner . (They don't do mushy peas down south )

Moreover, u can get both of them. If u are a fastidious person u may wish your ecommerce website to be integrated with ebay. Supposing, u are selling online through your website and want to sell your products through eBay as well. It’s easy to sync your website and eBay platform if to use ecommerce services, provided by dotcommerce , an ecommerce company.

I think it depends on what objective you are trying to reach. If you want to build up your brand, an ecommerce site is probably the way to go (invest some time in making your website look good and trustworthy). If you just want to sell products where the brand doesn't really matter, ebay is probably the right solution to use.

Both. But as said above this depends on your goal and strategy.
You might even go with amazon.

I suggest you try both but try to work or improve more on your on e-commerce site.

But eBay provides numerous tools and a great deal of information for anyone to accomplish the task of getting a store up and running.

I think both are good, for small online business we can use e-commerce and for big or huge online business we can use e-bay.
e-bay provide the good details and information about the project. It has numerous tool and its a best way to find your product.

You may try both and see which works better because it will depend on your goal and strategy.

If you can afford it, I'd definitely go with both. And see if you can set up a selling account on Amazon, too.
I know of a number of sites that use both eBay and Amazon as a way to spread awareness of their companies. It's something that I plan on doing as soon as I'm able.

Like everyone said, it would be the best to go with both an eBay site and your own ecommerce site. If you still can take on a bit more work, I would also suggest Amazon like the others did.
This is how I see it: eBay is a great platform to start getting an education in selling online. Once you start getting systems in place, I would go with creating your own ecommerce website. With your own website, you can have higher profits, and less big brother, big 'G' type rules enforcement like you see on eBay.
When you start getting a lot of traction with your own website, you'll see why having your own site is so empowering.
Good luck!

Even though the auction model is meant to gain the best outcome for both parties the buyer and the seller. A lot of the value is lost through the impersonal nature of the platform. There is no customization; no personalization. Trust is a problem for auction sites, which is why they need seller rating systems. On your own website you can personalize and show people who you are, and why you do what you do,. That holds allot of weight online. You can build a lot more value behind your offering, and interest in paying top dollar.

I will have to agree with those who say go with both. You should look into getting a complete solution that allows you to easily integrate your eBay, amazon, and website in one easy location. This means you might have to maintain the sites separetly but you can easily streamline orders through all channels. EBay is a great platform to sell your products, but if you want to grow your business and create an brand image you will need your own website. Clients here at Dydacomp are able to easily manage both in their Multichannel Order Manager system.
Hope this helps!

Obviously, if Ebay is working for you then don't stop. e-Commerce takes time and patience in order to have a successful store. Many of our first time clients feel like if the put a store out there, then people will come and that's just not the case. There are things that must be done in order to get your site recognized. SEO is everything. PPC is a good way to get instant revenue. Data feeds to companies like Amazon and Shopzilla thru avenues like www.godatafeed.com can also generate some quick revenue.
Ebay is strictly about selling products but e-commerce for the most part is selling your company, then the products. You have more potential with a e-commerce site if you utilize all the tools.
