    Small Business

Hello, I'm a small business owner. I'm just starting out and am looking for ways to drive traffic to my website. It's got about 100 products on it. If you have any suggestions for me I'd appreciate them. My website is http://cf-enterprises.tripod.com/index.html

    Thank you for your time,

    hey fred,

Good start with your online business! Here is a couple things that may help you out...

    1. make sure you set a HIT for your buttons on teh intro flash file, that way the finger cursor will not jump around like that.
2.your site does not contain any meta tags, therefore you will not be found on the web.
3.the images are very large making the pages load slow.

try some of those ideas and hopfully they will help you on your

    Four more things:

    1. If you're serious about your business, register a domain name and get a real web host.

    2. Consider signing up with an alternate merchant processor. It doesn't matter that you use PayPal if your customers don't.

    3. Having the company logo in Flash is cute, but is distracting because it's constantly moving. You don't want to do anything that distracts people from shopping.

    4. To expand a little on what Anthony said, you might want to re-evaluate your images. Having smaller thumbnails that are all the same size will give your site a more consistent and professional appearance. Link the thumbnails to a popup that displays the full-size image.

    Good luck!

    Dear Fred,

The best way of marketing your new site & driving traffic is to :

First and foremost, submit you website to all the major search engines. While there are numerous search engines on the Internet, getting listed on the top 5 search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL & Ask Jeeves) will generate the most traffic to your Web site.

It is also important to keep in mind that on-line advertising is now accepted as the best and most cost effective way to drive traffic to your site. Banner ads, when placed in appropriate Websites can prove to be instrumental in driving traffic.

Good luck with your new site.

    Hi Fred,
Inspite of investing your efforts and energies in these things you should go in for a readymade customizable online business solution. One such solution you can find at http://b2bparadise.com they are offering a complete hosted solution for a e store.

    Cool Promoting to search engines.

Getting listed on the search engines is definately important but can take a while. I have utilized http://selfpromotion.com. This guy walks you through the process and gets sites listed in half the time. He is pretty honest. Just a suggestion! Hope it helps.

Thank you! Our goal is to earn your trust!

A few suggestions to start with....

    Two quick recommendations....

    1. Re-design your front page to have your different product
categories down the left menu, get rid of the flash, it's
very irritating, is not recognized by search engines and is
taking away the primary space that could be drawing your
visitors further into your site. Use that space to promo
a category, place testimonials from satisfied customers,
    provide seasonal gift ideas, etc...

    2. Do some research using the Overture Keyword Suggestion Tool
    at: http://inventory.overture.com/d/sear...ry/suggestion/
and find out the primary keywords people are using to search for
    your different products.

Now - optimize your pages for 1-3 of those keywords on each
product page to increase the chance search engines will find
    you.

You can also try using Google Adwords or Overture.com Pay-Per-click
campaigns to purchase placed advertising to increase your traffic.

Try google Adwords first, it;s often a better traffic generator and
    better priced.

    Cheers...

    Work ON your business...

Get a real domain name and hosting. Attach your company name to a quality web site. My advice is do not work IN your business by wasting business time with developing a web site while others could be doing the work… work ON your business. Let a professional take care of the web site while you work on the things you are good at – YOUR BUSINESS. Your web site seems alright, but the web is where people are going to get their impression of you. You want something that is completely original and professional looking. There are many good web design companies, but you want to stay within your budget. I would use a quality site that offers some low-cost options like www.premiumwebsolutions.com. Hope this helped!

You may want to consider getting your own domain name rather than using a subdomain of Tripod. The web address will be easier for potential clients to remember. A very important thing to remember is to list your web address on every piece of literature that you send out, business cards, flyers, letters, postcards etc.
