How Can You Show Trust On Your eCommerce Web Site?

"Consumers value their personal information and they want to feel secure that their information is in safe hands. A clear and detailed privacy policy is a great tool to build confidence with customers.

Joining and displaying so-called "reassurance logos" from organizations like the Better Business Bureau, TrustE, Verisign, and Hacker Safe also will send strong "signals" of trust about your website to your users.

Studies show that these reassurance logos tend to improve conversion rates on e-commerce sites.

    all good plus "about" page

I agree with the BBB and verisign/mcafee secure etc logos plus it helps to have an "about us" page that really does tell a bit about who is running the business and shows a picture to inspire confidence.

The only way I think you can make customers trust you is not to do those things which you promised them you will not do with their information. Putting logos of BBB and the like up is secondary, besides, some people pay for that now.

In addition to the trust logos that others have mentioned, I think the most important things are an About page with full contact and location info and a description of the company, displaying a phone number and store customer service hours. You need to show the customer that you are a real and legitimate business.

Thanks to phishing, pharming and a host of other scams, Web surfers grow more wary by the day. But there is something you can do to reassure visitors you're one of the good guys: Put a Certified Domain validation seal on your Web site.

•Inspire confidence. Placing the Certified Domain seal on your Web site and in your WhoIs display tells them you are the legal originator of your domain name. Visitors will come back again and again knowing that your site is legitimate and backed by a Certified Domain.

•One day is all it takes. The validation process is simple and can generally be completed in 10 minutes, with the Certified Domain seal issued to your site within 1 business day.
Add a Certified Domain Seal Just $2.99/yr
