I don't understand why this is an issue in the first place. I have no problems finding items in Outlook without a 3rd party add-in

@Collabora:
I don´t know in which way you use Outlook. I use it for business and have a lot of mails to manage and, of course, to find.
Outlooks build-in search maybe works for a few mails, but if the number of mails reaches thousands and you also want to find contents in attachments...
Then you need a powerful search tool.
I came to Lookeen through this threat and I am very satisfied with it.

I use it for both personal and business (2007). I too accumulate 1,000s of email. I find that Search Folders does the job nicely. Once I set one with a certain criteria I never have to perform a search again using that criteria.

Hello
In my August 2000 column, I described changes in Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) security zones that you can make to secure Outlook against malicious code that might arrive in HTML messages, if you haven't installed the Outlook E-mail Security Update. These changes ensure that no code or ActiveX components can run when you just look at a message in Outlook's preview pane.
Unfortunately, the latest vulnerability in Outlook isn't related to these easy-to-adjust HTML mail settings and is potentially much more serious. The "Malformed Email Header" weakness exposes a chink in Outlook's defenses that can let malicious code enter your system—just by downloading a message. The attack can affect any copy of Outlook—even Outlook 97—that you use to retrieve Internet mail from a POP3 account.
