How do I submit Press Releases?

I have an online business and just added a section called Press Releases. As our company creates Press Releases they will be added in this section of our website.
My question: How do I submit them? I don't know if there's one specific place to submit them, if they are submitted to the API, or if there are multiple ways. I did a Google Search and found tons of places saying to submit you Press Release but I don't know if there's one place to do it or multiple places. How do I go about doing this?
    Thank you for your help.

Free sites such as the one I use PRLeap are good. There is not one place and most of the free sites do a passable job of driving visitors. Of course the outcome depends entirely on how well the release is written. Most of these sites offer upgrades for a fee and you'll have to decide if it's worth it to you.

I would definitely say PRWeb. They are one of the biggest in the business and used by most big companies. Their service isn't cheap, but you very definitely do get what you pay for.

There are about 100 free press release sites. If you look around on some forums, you can outsource this service for 25-30 dollars USD.

    Instructions and Guidelines
This service is offered by AMEinfo.com - no fees are applicable to the companies or the PR agencies submitting news or press releases.

Please submit your press releases in Text or Word format only (.txt or .doc). We can also accept PDF files but prefer the above two formats.

If you want to attach an image, please ensure that it is in JPEG or GIF format (.jpg / .gif) and that the file size does not exceed 150 kb.

Please ensure that press releases sent to AMEinfo.com are no more than 48 hours old from date of original release. Articles older than that may not be published.

Outside business hours press releases are saved in waiting loop and will be activated in business hours or mentioned blocking periods.
Please submit releases in German language here: open PR - Das offend PR - Portal open PR.de. If you need help please read our instructions on How to Write a Press Release.

I'm going to have to back everyone up and say PRWeb.

Depending on your line of business and if you have the money - you can always look at PrNewswire - but they cost a bit.
