    Hello all

I am currently shopping for a new web designer to do some upgrades to my site and wanted to see what you thought of the current one.

    Thanks!

Design is not bad. You do still need to get Alt-Tags on the photo's and a header tag put in. Content is nice and full of keyword rich text.

Thanks! I'm also thinking of possibly making a new store with another merchant. I've had Yahoo for a while but thinking I might find a different store that won't cost me as much per month or per transaction.

As long as you accept money, you will always have transaction fee's. Either from the cc processor, paypal or google checkout. Not knowing how much you spend each month with yahoo, it is hard to make any recommendations. You can try the free carts like OScommerce, zen-cart and such. You would only be paying hosting fee's then. If you go with a hosted solution, such as Volusion, you will be spending more, depending on the number of products you have and the bandwidth you use.

True but Yahoo takes like 1.5% of every transaction on top of what my payement gateway takes.

I've been looking at coreCommerce and they seem to have excellent customer service.

Oh yes! It's actually 1.0% for the package I have:
    http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/ecommerce/plans.php

So Yahoo gets a monthly fee PLUS 1% of my orders and the credit card company gets their % as well.

Yeah, not to mention Yahoo's service has gotten worse over the years. I'm just nervous about moving because I've never made a move like this before and just hoping I can do it smoothly!

You should be able to do it totally seamlessly. The trick is to mount your new store in a sub directory and when you're ready it's a matter of some database edits and a config file edit. You will need a host with php and sql support but most do.

I have done shops that way with only about a 5 minute interruption in service and you can integrate Pay Pal, Google Checkout and my personal favorite Authorize.Net for credit cards.

Just an update. I've decided to go with coreCommerce. I could not believe, and still can't, how much and how fast of service they give. I contacted Yahoo over a week ago and still have not heard back from them. I will be very glad once I am on the new site.

My new one? It's all in one. I am using Paypal Pro and it ends up being cheaper than Yahoo still. PLUS I get more features with cC which I really like. I can have coupons and gift certificates and stuff like that without paying $130 per month.

PayPal is not recommendable in my mind (bad press, privacy issues, also got negative feedback from some of my clients having tried to work with them), but well if it works for you...
