Need some help getting traffic to my site

I'm not getting any visitors or traffic to my site at all. I might get 2 visitors a day at the current rate. The site went live on August 30th,2008 and I submitted to yahoo and google manually the next day. Google and yahoo have been crawling the site hardcore, but i'm not getting the traffic that I hoped for and even close.

My site isn't fully SEO'd yet, I do know that and the web design team said it would take 3 more weeks. It's already been 1 week since they started on the SEO.

What can I do to get the word out about my business? What things have you tried that haven't worked and what did work? Any of these ideas free or do they cost?

    Thanks!

Here is my site if you want to take a look at it. http://www.halessales.net

Have the spider's started crawling your site at all? It sure doesn't seem that way. I see that the Alt-Tags are on the pictures but you have virtually NO content on the site. The front page is the only one that has any. Get some keyword rich content on the category pages and get the category menu at the TOP of the left nav menu (it gets totally lost at the bottom). You should also be submitting your site to as many directories as you can right now, just to get it crawled. There are plenty of free ones out there. Are you planning on adding any other products or increasing the selection on what you do offer?

A website will always be slow at the start. No one knows about you (including the search engines). It takes a few weeks for traffic to start coming and it is a slow build from there.

You can find forums in your market and begin posting there to build a reputation. Some forums also allow you to have a signature that you can include a link to your site. This will help with SEO and getting traffic.

Make your products (if you have any) more visible to the spiders and human searchers. Put them on the homepage and have clearly marked/visible links to more items.

Include keyword rich text. Think of a few terms you want to rank well for and include them in your site's copy.

Look for 3 to 6 months before you see any meaningful traffic. Content is king so fill your site with meaningful and relevant content.

I agree to roban, it can take quite a long time before your site have not just been visited by a search engine spider, but also indexed correctly.

In the meantime (and as stated by the previous posters already) add contents to your site... anything suited to make people find your website interesting and worth to stay a while is also helpful for SEO.

I will take the challenge to get at least 20-40 visitors for your site with expected around 3% sales conversion rate as maximum three month project, if we agree the terms. Contact me directly.

Help some help getting traffic to my site

Just make sure content is worth coming back and your traffic will be there with them.

But sometimes it takes a while though. Just be a bit patient.

One of the simplest ways to promote yourself (and easiest to forget) is your signature line. Okay, email is the obvious, but besides your website, be sure to put links to your blog, all of your social networking sites, your page on ezinearticles.com, etc.

(By the way, your website should also have a button linking to your social networks – not just your blog.) And any time you post a blog, a question on Linkedin, respond to someone ELSE’s blog, or comment on a Yahoo Group, etc., be sure to put your entire signature and links there as well. Finally, NEVER forget to put all of this info on your ezine or newsletter.

This is a simple way to turn contacts into friends and friends into a FANS – or even clients! This is one of the simplest strategies for success that we should ALL be implementing every single day. Marketing Issues

Have you considered a linking strategy with other related web sites? This may be time consuming (to verify the other sites link back to you and create new links on your site) but it is a good way to get traffic from other web sites and it will also help with your SEO.

How to Build Traffic and Audience for Smallbusiness Website

    Hello BrentNWV,

Traffic would not be my major concern in your case. During my visit to your site, I saw that you know how to build a website but you may not know how your customer would like to use it. I think you could make good use of some concepts of usability there.

Now, to answer your question, there are three steps that could help you to have more traffic:
    First Step: Give a motivation.
    Second Step: Spread the word.
    Last Step: Build a community.

You'll find examples for each step at How to Build Traffic and Audience for Smallbusiness Website.

That's a great contribution from claudiomarcunha. Deep linking on forums like this also helps. Build more traffic and create connections using social media websites.

Starting a website is more easier than getting traffic to it...it takes months of time sometimes...so do all the SEO work and wait patiently.
