zencart help!!

I have been looking at different web hosts and one says that it includes oscommerce with the package, however reading a few threads on here it seems that people don't like oscommerce if you don't know php?

I have downloaded zencart as a few people have said that this is a good free cart. Now I don't have a test serve online to test it so would want to test it on my home computer first, any ideas on how to do this?

I am going to be getting web space soon for my new web site so can then test the cart on there but would like to know how hard or easy is zencart to use and congfigure? I would like to try a few before I settle on one and learn all about it.
