How do you monitor a web page for changes?
So far, I've been using Google Alerts and Google Analytics plus one browser extension but I want to improve and automate this process. I want to actively monitor my website's performance across different browsers and devices to prevent potential issues. And to make sure we're staying compliant with laws/regulations. Also, I want to explore beyond just monitoring my own website and start tracking my competitors' online presence. I want to keep an eye on their design changes and content updates and get insights for adjusting my own marketing strategies. Any tips or resources would be greatly appreciated. *There are around 20 websites at the moment that I want to examine/monitor so I would prefer an automated solution that also allows me to keep an archive.

The way I monitor website changes is automated and fairly easy to set. I use a tool that automatically screenshots the page(s) in question. As for tracking, the tool creates a screenshot archive, so it's quite handy. You want to start with 20 pages, that's a decent number, but you might want to expand it as your business grows or simply to get more comparison material. Either you do it or not, I would recommend considering this before choosing a method/tool. I hate changing everything from scratch so I try to think ahead. Now, a few tools come to mind for your particular case. You'll find more details about possible integrations and specific features here. I believe one of these will work for you.

Looking into it, thank you. I see a couple of good candidates. Some even offer a free trial, which is great, I prefer testing a new tool if possible. Now I can relax over the weekend without having this on my mind. I hope I'll set everything up next week. Thanks again, I appreciate it!

To monitor your website and competitors, try out website monitoring tools like Pingdom and compliance tools like Siteimprove. For competitor tracking, tools like SEMrush or Ahrefs can give insights. Don't forget automated testing tools like Selenium for cross-browser checks. Lastly, for archiving, consider services like Archive.org's Wayback Machine. These tools can help you stay on top of changes and ensure your website is running smoothly

For performance monitoring, tools like Pingdom, UptimeRobot, and BrowserStack can help you test across different browsers and devices. For content and design changes, you might want to look into services like Visualping or Hexowatch, which can track changes on web pages and send you alerts.
For a more comprehensive solution, you can explore building a custom tool using the principles of mvp in software development. This approach allows you to start with a basic version that monitors essential elements and then iteratively add features based on your needs, such as compliance checks and competitor analysis. This way, you can ensure the tool evolves to meet your specific requirements efficiently.

To monitor web pages for changes more effectively, consider using tools like Visualping, Wachete, or Hexowatch. These tools can automate tracking changes on your own site and competitors' sites, including design and content updates, and provide notifications and an archive of changes. For performance monitoring across different browsers and devices, tools like BrowserStack or LambdaTest are useful. They help you spot potential issues and ensure compliance with laws and regulations. These solutions can streamline monitoring for around 20 websites, saving time and effort.

If you want an immediate alert on changes you will need to use a service or create your own bot.
You can actually use HARPA AI from the chrome extension store. Its going to help you a lot with this and with assessing their web pages. There version that you can use without a chat gpt api that will give you a good idea of how well it works.
For deeper tracking I know SEMrush and Ahrefs are up there they are all we have.
Their tracking is all based n estimation of how much traffic a particular ranking keyword SHOULD get. So its not very accurate. But again its about the best we have.

To effectively monitor multiple websites for changes, performance, compliance, and competitive insights, consider using a comprehensive web monitoring tool like SEMrush, Ahrefs, or Moz. These tools offer features beyond Google Alerts and Analytics, allowing you to track websites across various browsers and devices, archive changes, and monitor competitors' online presence. They provide alerts for design changes, content updates, and compliance issues, while also offering insights for refining your marketing strategies. Setting up alerts and periodic reports through these tools can automate the monitoring process efficiently across your specified websites.
