How To Choose The Keywords Strategy In 2018

    1. Main Keywords
The best way to start searching for the correct keywords is with the most important keywords in your niche. Put yourself in the shoes of those who will search for your product or service; You can also browse your website and divide your sections into general topics. These will be the core elements of your future keyword empire.
    2. Keywords with those who are already in Google
Before starting your keywords strategy, it is important to analyze which are the keywords that, naturally, already carry traffic to your site. Unless your page has been done yesterday, there must already be some words that work for you. You can start using the fantastic Google Search Console tool.
With this free tool from Google, you can define which are the keywords that have brought traffic to your site.
    3. The Keywords of your competitors
Surely you already have very clear which ones and who are your competitors; Now, the next step is to check what are the keywords that bring traffic to your competition's website. In this way, you can enrich your own strategy and see what they are doing well and what you could do better.
    Filter the keywords correctly
Having a large number of Keywords and having them removed from Google and other tools do not mean that you must use or push absolutely all of your keywords that are on your list. Once you have this list of keywords you should choose the most suitable for you and the ones you want to position. How to achieve this?
    1. Search volume
Remember that the search volume is the number of searches of people who receive a particular word or set of words (keywords). For obvious reasons, the more search volume a word has, the more traffic you can generate to your site. There are different tools that help you measure the search volume for each of the keywords.
    2. Difficulty to level up
There will be some words with which it is more or less difficult to position yourself; depending on many factors that are in your field and others in the hands of your competitors. Calculating the level of difficulty of these words will help you also to choose the best strategy to position yourself.
    3. The length of your keyword (short-tail / long-tail)
Another point that creates debate among many experts in SEO is the length of your keywords, some studies indicate that most searches are made with one to four words; But, others also indicate that it really does not matter. The more words are the search becomes more specific what could bring more accurate traffic to your website, but it could also complicate matters because people do not necessarily write five or more words to make a search.
    4. Sum of all your factors
Once you have defined the search volume, the difficulty of positioning and the right words you can define which are the keywords that suit you. The ideal is not to choose words that are very difficult to position and that, in addition, do not have a very low search volume. The balance is the key, between words with the optimal level of possibility to position and that, in addition, have an optimal search volume.
    Discover new keywords
Having already done all of the above, you can now define and choose new keywords. The first thing is to learn to position yourself with the keywords that already work for you and once you have mastered this topic, start your search for new keywords.
If you need ideas for new keywords is finding the questions that are made around your brand or product or niche in particular. There are free websites that help you identify what questions people are looking for around your keyword.
    Group your keywords
Once you have a more or less decent list of keywords it's time to group or segment them. Depending on the search criteria and your objectives is that you should group the different sections of your website (URL) with certain keywords.
In the beginning, if your website has different sections you should have already identified which keywords are associated to which section of your website and cover the needs of those who are looking for. It is also important that the words you choose are the right ones to be aligned with a useful result.
    The right strategy for you
Does all this sound very tangled and complicated? Do not worry! Little by little you will understand and define what is the most appropriate keywords strategy for you and your business.
