How Does an ERP System Work?

    Hello Friends,

Computers have become so complex and commonplace in organizations, it is much easier to integrate all of the data and processing software modules and hardware into one large unit that is easier to access and control. This is called Enterprise Resource Planning, or ERP. Normally ERP systems use the same database throughout an entire company to store various types of data for different computerized functions. When first developed, ERP systems were used only for large manufacturing companies. Today, they benefit all sizes of companies, even those that are quite small.
The primary objective of using an ERP system is to integrate the data and processes of a business to enhance work flow. Although most organizations would like one ERP to be integrated for all its functions, many larger companies establish a primary ERP from which standalone units are attached to improve performance.

    Thanks and Regards,

You're absolutely correct, ERP used to only be available for enterprise companies because of the upfront costs of implementation, training, infrastructure, and support. However, nowadays there are ERP solutions for Small and Medium sized Businesses (SMBs). When you run your business, you'll need to manage your customers, vendors, employees, products/services, (order fulfillment?), accounting, website, and misc. ERP solutions essentially is one system to manage your entire business from beginning to end. For business owners, this removes the concern of having to deal with multiple software in running your business (i.e. Excel, Quickbooks, and any additional software).

With the adoption of mobile smartphone devices, business owners want to access their business information on the go. This has now ushered in a number of companies that offer cloud ERP solutions and breaks away from the traditional ERP solutions. A lot of ERP companies range in terms of functionality and price, so it is important to take your time in shopping for the perfect ERP solution for your company.

ERP software integrates these various functions into one complete system to streamline processes and information across the entire organization. The central feature of all ERP systems is a shared database that supports multiple functions used by different business units.

ERP software works with equal dexterity across large corporates, medium-sized enterprises as well as an ERP for small business enterprises.
