What are disadvantages of Article submission?

There was a time when article submission was considered top SEO activity but after google updates sites were penalized due to spam articles the reason why if you write 1 article and post it in 100 directories then this won't work anymore but if you write quality article and submit it in quality directories then it still work.

Yes, I do agree with you @jandxb back in the day , when Google is not that strict when it comes to links , article submission is one of the most effective way to rank the site to the top of SERP.

No disadvantages if you are posting in the right category and the article is worth reading it.

There is no disadvantage of article submission, if you are doing legal activities. Only quality and unique content is in demand in the market.
