It depends upon keyword density. if high 2 or 3 months and if low it can come at top in around 1 month.

As the other posters have replied, it depends upon what you're doing. Some changes don't show up for awhile.

I do want to add a word of caution though. If you are using a technique or a handful of techniques and trying to see if it is working, you need to be careful. Google's algorithms are very sensitive to manipulation and such practices can backfire badly.

The best approach is to have an arsenal of actions and work on your site to please human visitors, applying those actions on a regular basis. If you do it right, your site and traffic will grow. But trying to push it up the ranks can lead you into trouble.
    Warm Regards,

    Denise

To increase your traffic on your site, I suggest you do inbound marketing. Here are some tips that will help. Of course you want to write a blog, however, it has been shown that if your blog post are at least 2000 words then you can get ranked better, so try to make your post long, but the most important thing is to make them quality. Another thing I often suggest is to make sure you are doing stuff that others are not doing. For example, if possible, try to create an online tool for your industry, or start a podcast or create a really great resource. Lastly, the main thing is once you have all these great resources is to make sure you reach out to influences to promote your stuff to their audience. It is always good to have a relationship with them before hand.

    Question:

I do income taxes for locals part time. What Google sites can I leave back links on to get direct traffic?

Before you ask as to when or how long you will have a good amount of traffic to your site, you might want to check for some factors that affect a website's traffic. The most common are competition, search behavior, content quality, keywords that you are targeting, platforms where you participate or promote your site, and the volume of the searches per keyword.

You can't have an exact answer to that question without you giving us enough information about your site. However on the other side, looking at those factors may help you determine how long your site can get a good number of traffic.
