I recommend Addweb7 Pro as stymiee does.
Most so called "SEO Experts" say they don't use any software for optimization, but some well known experts as robin nobles tell you to use some of WPG tools.
I don't think there is anything wrong using tools for SEO. You have to take advantage of them at what they do to ease your job. What are you going to stop using next? MS Word and turn in all project to your customer hand written? MS Word is a tool as well, so why do you use it? Simply because it helps go faster with your job. Are you gonna stop using IE and go back to use telnet ftp and text based bulletin boards? I don't think so. Use the tools whenever needed.
I usually use SEO company for develop my site in order to get PR.
But we must select good SEO company for sure.
depends what you are looking for. I once used Trellian - http://www.veikoherne.com/2007/08/us...optimisations/ but this seems to be outdated. The simple Analytics and being active in webmasters forums will help you.
There's a lot of good software/tool like seoquake and seospyglass.However, do things manually otherwise you might be penalized by Google and deindexed your site.

When you pay for seo you don't want to be anywhere but
on the Top of the First Page of Google.
Don't settle for a listing of page 2 or page 4 of Google.
No one will find you there as opposed to the top of the
First Page.

I haven't used any software for SEO yet so could not say about any software but natual way looks much more helpful.
Google is getting smarter everyday buddy, and using an SEO seoftware is only gonna put in the risk of getting banned, if you are willing to learn SEO then do it and do your thing by your self and if you are out of time or don't wana learn anyway just get your sefl an SEO comapny and stay away from trouble,
SEObook Rank checker is little accurate, I thinks its more accurate then any other free SERP checker.
I would recommend Addweb7 Pro.
Everybody should take advantage of SEO softwares as what they do is to ease your job.
My humble suggestion is dont use any software for SEO promotion, It will affect your ranking. If you really dont have time to do promotion, just hire an experienced SEO expert.

I think most people here tend to do SEO themselves. Most software is looked down on since SEO can be done much better by hand.
I can nearly bet that the most answer will be that seo-guru uses no software and do everything by hands ))

The Best tool for SEO comes not in a software, it is not promoted in any website, it's not available on Google and you cannot access it on any forum. The best tool for SEO is the SEO person itself. No matter which SEO tool you would be using, it is still the person who will decide on which will be the best approach for the site. It is still the person who makes a site successful or the one who makes it crash..
I use RoboForm for the directory submission. Its really a beneficial software.
I mostly do things by hand also but got some seo software for analysis which makes things better and faster like SEOquake, and backlinkwatch to see where my competitors are linking and copy their strategies as well.
People may say they use software or do it all manually. All the SEO people I know use a combination. There are things that software can do that will save you time and I think the purist (no-software) crowd are being slightly pompus when they tell you software is stupid. But let me share this with you -- SEO is a highly manual task and there is no getting around it. So don't expect a package that will tend to all your SEO needs the way MS Word tends to all your word processing needs.

there are lots of tools that one can use for effective SEO. But i would rather advice you not to go for the software and do your SEO manually as its more reliable and more effective.

In my opinion I think it's best to stay away from SEO software and do it yourself (unless your site is huge). It might affect your ranking. I would try to do as much as possible yourself and if possible hire some people who could help you out with it. That might be better than using some (potentially dodgy) tool where you don't know what the outcome might be to your site.
SEO Elite is the best SEO softeware and it is not too costly.
speialisties SEO usually use the tools with many instruments, not the software, I used the software before many, but I found the tools so weak I give better results for me a lot more software.
