You are correct in asking this question. Any store owner whether it be a brick and mortar or a click and mortar shop should realize that after hiring an SEO company they should continue their own marketing efforts.
Think of yourself as a store in your home town on Main Street. What would you do to promote yourself? Run specials, advertise in the local paper, write press releases, join local merchant groups and promote your business?
roban is right, you can still bring local customers to your site by advertising in newspapers, flyers, run ads, etc, have business cards and distribute them, put the business cards or a flyer in the box for shipment to a customer so they have something to keep.
Yes, you are right. For bring local potential visitors, sending flyers, post advertising is neccessary. Anything else could be done online?
you could do PPC advertising, you could upload you products to google or other large shoping sites that allow that, the best way is to pay for advertising , free donst work too well. do some searching around for places for you to advertise, directories, large shopping sites, ebay, amazon, etc
Upload your product catalog to GoogleBase (froogle). It is Google's free comparison shopping site. Also use Amazon - they require a commission fee on all sales but that's better/safer than a CPC model than can rack up large spend without sales.
Use emails to retain customers and make profit with repeat customers. Emails are rather cheap and conversion ratios tend to be higher than other avenues.
Get involved with your industry's forum chat. Make a name for yourself, slowly build trust, and people will slowly visit.
Finally, try your hand in SEM.
Thanks very much for sharing this. I will do it.
hye,

Ours is a very small niche company and so we do all our own advertising and such. This website is great for those wanting to do their own. A small donation is asked but not required. Http://www.selfpromotion.com
I use a great email marketing service called My Emma. They are affordable and very flexible when it comes to designing your own templates. No cookie cutter work here, here is the link:

when it comes to online, i would suggest you to run PPC campaigns for your site. target the right audience and deliver a great content to them. hope this helps. by the way what's your site's theme? is it an e-commerce web or something else?
SEO is a single module to increase your visibility online. You can perform paid campaigns, advertisements and email marketing can be beneficial as well. No doubt these all are some what relevant to SEO but independently these all sectors have a vast dept within.
Pay per click can be very effective. If you're unsure just start with very small bids on your clicks so that you don't have to worry about racking up large bids.
that's really a good question.there are more and more ppl doing SEO for business.
I think email marketing is a good choice.I'm gonna try it.
it depends what you mean by e-mail marketing.if you mean just sending out unsolicited e-mails, otherwise known as spamming, it could hurt more than help. For example, speaking only for myself, any company that sends me unsolicited e-mail advertising would never see any business from me. It wouldn't matter if they had the greatest deal on the planet for something I needed desperately, I would refuse to do business with them simply because they spam.
drive traffic with google adwords
Hey willanfei,
There many small & big ways to boost the site, and you alone can not use all.
Get involved, you need to get involved in your niche, start talking to like minded people. Find a forum or a blog for your niche and become and expert and help those in your industry. By doing this you will become an authority figure. The internet is not just a place for information anymore, its social society. Also it beware of PPC while it is an excellent tool, it is used in the wrong way a lot of times. I think a lot of e-commerce owners use it as an end all be all for traffic. If all you do is work on and invest in PPC then you will trap yourself becoming reliant on the internet gods for you source of traffic. Make sure you actively invest in SEO although it may seem slow and less effective at times it will pay off. Like that old saying make your money work for you, don't work for your money.
I think you can use blog and forum posting which will definitely help you to promote your business.
Other wise you can take the help of social networking website to promote yr business.
try social media like youtbe facebook and twitter
also buy ads and ppc
One of the best things I ever did for my site was get on youtube. I have a few product review videos my self (I still need lots of practice). What I did was find several people (I now have 7) that own what I sell, they make amazing product reviews for fun and have thousand and in some cases millions of subscribers. I supply them with gear and they make a video and mention me and my site, the visitors and sales have been out of control. I work a full time job on top of running my site for about 40+ hours a week, In 4 months I am already in the position to leave my regular job. Get on youtube or find some people there that will work with you, you'll be happy you did.
Everyone here has great advice. I would like to add the following.
Increasing inbound links and updating/adding content on a consistent basis is your best bet to organically raise your ranking on Google. There is a lag between the work you do and the results, but it's definitely worth putting in the effort.
On our site we have been working on raising our organic listing for a few months and just recently we have seen progress.
Nothing beats organic ranking when it comes to SEO and SEM. Your ROI is also significantly better compared to PPC (organic ranking are free.. you can't really beat free).
That's my two cents.
as we know, SEO deals with the ranking but for traffic, we can do following task. It would be path maker tips:-
1. Email Marketing
2. You Tube, Facebook, Twitter promotion
3. Try to drive traffic through forums
Apart from SEO we can use blog posting,Forum Posting etc.Its also a better way to get more traffic in the website.
We can also use social networking website to increase the traffic in the website.
If you have online marketing under control then start offline marketing like on other peoples site as well as in person. Business cards, flyers, posters, banners, word to mouth talking.
If you want to take your marketing to a whole new group of people then give out lectures, seminars and tutorials online and offline if your seen as a expert in your field or if you genuinely know what your talking about
There are lot of ways which you can use like SMO i.e. Social Media Optimization in which social networking sites are used for promotion of business say like facebook, Twitter, Linked in.
Apart from this you can make video concern to your business and do promotion via YouTube which comes under Video Marketing and as YouTube is top most video site so definitely it will help you lot if your video is powerful, interesting, informative and attractive too.
you can try promoting your site through social networking like facebook and twitter. you might as well consider media marketing like youtube, flickr, metacafe, dailymotion, etc.,
you may go for viral marketing. create some unique video with reference to website and post in the youtube. you will get good response.
