I would say presenting the articles manually is the better option as it devotes you more options to select a niche to present the articles. and submitting to character directories is ever beneficial rather than doing it to all the poor directories.

I usually create unique content and submit it into top article directories, such ezinearticles. They in become send out it out to hundreds, if not thousands of article directories as well as services. You can also purchase software that does the same thing for you without going to a distinguish service.
According to me, manual submission is better choice to go, article submitter could cause a lot of problem and also it is time consuming. I personally prefer manual submission.

First of all the reason for article submission is to gain higher ranking in any Search Engines when user enter particular keyword.
While submitting articles, each article content must me unique and quality.. Also, remember to submit articles to wordpress sites..

I thought the original purpose of article submission was to get people to read the article (and hopefully post it on their own site) and to get people to visit your site ... that is hopefully linked from the article.
The SEO benefits are, I thought, only secondary.
