I am agree with AmeriCommerceJM. E-commerce really takes time and lots of hard work. If you have time and have patient then go for this also otherwise as you said that you are comfortable with Ebay then its better to continue with this.

Do both, eccomerce as a backup, I see alot of companies leaving ebay and starting up their own ecommerce sites.
Well my opinion. Better ecommerc , to make decision , take a look at ebay rate's :) they are just hugeeeeee. Ye maybe from 1 side , it will take money and time to get own ecommerce web page, but for long-term business success, better to make a quality ecommerce.
Best regards
I think it depends entirely on what you are selling and what profit margin you can tolerate.
The problem with ebay is that shoppers expect a bargain which means you either have to sell items you can get very, very cheaply or compromise your profit margin on them. For some items, you can make it up on volume, others do not work as well that way.
I occasionally sell items on ebay (and Amazon), but my online stores are my primary livelihood. For your market of cell phones, ebay is ideal if you can compete with other sellers and set your prices low enough to make sales and it would be harder for you to market via an ecommerce site due to the competition in your market. So I would certainly stay with what works for you.
I often say ebay is a great place to start if you don't know how much income you will be making from the start. Even though some customers refuse to purchase through paypal, paypal is at least free and does not involve the need of complex ssl or other ecommerce rules. Once you know your site is making money I would then focus on adding ecommerce on top of your paypal solution. That is actually what many of our customers have done with great success.
there are many great ecommerce merchants out there all of which have different rates, you can take your time choosing the right one after you also know the trends of your website. I hope this helps.
