Hey Sac,
I just saw that they have a post on their forum of why it may be running slow.

Netsuite has the most advanced yet easily managed security in the industry. In fact, you can even secure your data down the the ip addresses from which a particular records can be accessed (ie your employees passwords only work when they are at work). Data can only be accessed through the application layer ensuring both Oracle database security and application security. To learn more go to www.skyytek.com, we would be happy to explain the Netsuite security architecture.
It is true that some web applications have security issues. Netsuite doesn't.
Jenny,
Does Interprise offer a full Canadian version like NetSuite and NetSuite Small Business Canadian Editions?
Jenny,
Update re Netsuite. Netsuite uses asynchronous data exchange just like a windows application.
In plain english, you don't have to refresh the page every time you do most things. In addition, all of the graphics are cached. Combined it delivers the speed of a desktop application but it is accessible from any browser anywhere on the planet. This is a big advantage when working from multiple locations or on the road.
By the way, if anyone would like to try Netsuite. I can quickly set you up with a 14 day trial and would be happy to give you a tour.

a client-server accounting program? has this been done before?
sounds risky....
Gus,
Are you referring to Netsuite (pure HTML) or Intelliprise (appears to be client-server)?
My point is that Netsuite uses the browser efficiently so you don't have to refresh the page every time you change information on a form, for example. This has become increasingly common in well-designed web applications. Netsuite is one example of an application that does this well.
There are still steps in the system where you must 'save' the information. However, these are no different than the stages you would find in any other application.
I meant interpise -- which sounds like it is storing the accounting data on a remote server.
netsuite, the way you described it, would be client-server but the server is inside my company.
Actually, Netsuite is also storing data remotely since it operates as an ASP. They have an amazing security and redundancy architecture that ensures secure data transmission and transactional integrity at the server-side application layer. The browser is jsut an interface.
Agreed, though. Any browser is technically a client, albeit a very thin client ensuring that all logic is processed at the server only.
Hi Skytek,
I’m one of the project managers of Interprise Suite and Jenny has asked me to join into this discussion. I hope you don’t mind.
I think the more you learn about Interprise Suite the more that you will be impressed. Currently a good portion of our Beta program is made up of Netsuite resellers like you and they have been very supportive of our efforts. As one Netsuite reseller recently told me (paraphrasing Jerry Maguire) “You had me at login”.
First I would like to point out that unlike Netsuite, Interprise Suite is not dependant on the internet to run and can be installed at your location. For companies that do not want to allow access to their data over the internet, Interprise Suite can be installed just like a normal application. Should the company decide to allow internet access at a later time, this can be easily added. Since you decide where the server portion of Interprise Suite is installed, Interprise Suite can be installed at your office or your local ISP. Your Data, Your Choice. A true “n-tier” application, the setup of Interprise Suite can be optimized depending on the unique needs of each company.
Smart Client Advantages
The biggest difference between Interprise Suite and Netsuite is the fact that Interprise Suite is a “Smart Client Application (also known as “Services Orientated Architecture” SOA)” whereas Netsuite is a “Browser Based Application”. A Smart Client application combines the best aspects of both a desktop application like Everest and a browser based application like Netsuite.
When users login to Interprise Suite they are given the option to login via local area network or via web services. Interprise Suite will automatically optimize the data connection in the background.

No matter how you login, Interprise Suite will run just like any other windows application. From my discussions with resellers / companies that are currently using browser based applications, the browser does not allow for the efficient input of data. I have spoke to companies that have actually had to “add staff” to makeup for this inefficiency. In Interprise Suite power users can navigate through the program via F-Keys, Page-Up / Page down keys, arrows and other key combinations that are not available in a browser based solution. In Interprise Suite there is no need to ask your customers to wait when taking large “Phone Orders”.
Compared to a browser based application, a smart client application has too many advantages to list. Below are a couple of links that can help describing the benefits of the Smart Client approach.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/isv/techno...s/default.aspx
As I see it one of the biggest advantage to the Smart Client architecture is the ability to work offline. Although Interprise Suite will not have this ability until version 2.0, this feature is not possible in a browser based application. I was able to read your post in the Netsuite vs. Everest forum where you commented that when the internet connection was down it was a good time to take a coffee break and relax. I’m not sure that a business owner who is paying hundreds or thousands of dollars an hour for this downtime, or trying to keep customer commitments by shipping orders on time, would share this view.
Security
Since Smart Client applications are generally considered more secure than browser based application since they allow for proprietary encryption schemes. In Interprise Suite the encryption key is located at both the client and the server and is never transmitted over the internet further increasing security. With that said I agree that Netsuite has great security.
Canadian Version
Quite a number of beta users are located in Canada and we have added support for Quebec’s complex “compounded tax” requirements. We are implementing a global design into Interprise Suite that eliminates the need for country specific versions. We just started to add this design into the upcoming beta of Interprise Suite and will have it in place by release.

Price
Interprise Suite is priced from $1,500/us for UNLIMITED users running on a MSDE database and a free 3 user version is available. Compare this to Netsuite’s pricing.
We would love to invite you to join the beta partner program and let us know what you think. Our beta partners have been very helpful in helping us shape Interprise Suite and I have a feeling that you would be a valuable asset to the team. Perhaps you will consider adding Interprise Suite to the list of products you support in the future.
Sincerely,
Gary Harrison

I would be concerned about the potential for data loss of key records.
I think a lot of small businesses have misplaced concerns regarding hosted (a.k.a Web-based) applications. That is, using QuickBooks Online is a good option for small business owners who want to be able to enter invoices, pay bills or view reports from home.
I know some people are uncomfortable with the thought that their data resides with Intuit (or whatever software vendor they choose). But it's ironic given how bad most small businesses are about backing up files and storing those files safely offsite.
Another thing to consider when thinking about storing your vital data with a third-party: be sure to ask how they handle security. Before you decide which accounting ASP solution you want, find out. For example: who does NetSuite outsource their data storage and security to? Then find out what that company's policies are -- do they have multiple facilities around the country so that there's more than one location that has copies of your data (redundancy is good). Do they have backup power in the even of a blackout?
But DMuse has a point -- the average small business owner doesn't have a backup plan in place that can compare to what ASP providers have.
