Need a new ecommerce engine
We've been using Interchange for a long time, it's heavily customized, lots of problems, un-unpdateable (due to the customizations.) and so forth.
Need something new. Also need some features that will allow me to grow in new directions like multi-warehouse ability.
Here’s some criteria:
PCI compliant, I guess we are all going to have to do this by mid ’10 to be able to process credit cards. Here’s a Q&A on the topic. http://www.creloaded.com/faq.php?cID=15&CDpath=182_191
Shipping label generation, work with UPS and allow the admin user to generate a label without having to copypaste or import/export to world ship. Would be nice if it could do USPS too.
Multi warehouse capability. I’m hoping to enter into a joint venture with a biz in another state where they would be doing the fulfillment on the items they produce.
Customer Relations Management (CRM) tying communications with a customer to their account and orders.
An ebay plugin would be great too, but is not mandatory.
Needs to be B2B aware so a dealer can log in and see his accurate pricing – discount off MSRP based.
MSRP and ‘sale’ price capable w/o having to jump thru too many hoops. Normally MSRP is a posted number, but we never sell for that, it’s normally 10% off MSRP as the standard. See bottom of this page for example. http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...ore/2020C.html
But dealers get 30-40% off MSRP depending on the dealer.
Have looked at and discarded Miva, CRE Loaded, Zoovy, Vendio and a few others because they just can't do the job.
Suggestions?
For these features look at Volusion
Volusion has some limitations but oddly enough, what you are looking for they are very strong in these areas. Also they do integrate with big time back end inventory management systems. I would definately look at the trial and specifically look at the multi-warehouse aspects as well as it's very comprehensive shipping module and it's very flexible options for setting up retail, wholesale and affiliate accounts and managing them separately and even setting up different pricing levels for different customers. This, I believe is the best off-the-shelf solution for these issues. Usually this requires a lot of customization. Volusion is really designed more for a big operation like yours and for many of us most of these aspects go unused. But it is definately worth your while to run a trial and check it out. It is of course pci compliant has its own ssl certificates and both ftp and api access for import and export.
