Hi,
this is my first post! I am looking for a new accounting software for a small business. We are currently using Simply Accounting 2005pro. We are looking for a smooth migration into the new software. We are also considaring a web based software. Any thoughts?
I use Quickbooks Pro 2008 and couldn't live without it. It integrates into my shopping cart as well. It might be more than you are looking for but I recommend it.
Quickbooks is 99% of the SMB market in the US. The pro and enterprise versions are the best option, although I don't know all the differences.

I agree with Quickbooks. When your business grows, Quickbooks has everything you'll need, including support.
I have used quickbooks for a number of years and have not regrets.
I'm starting a small graphic design business and I'm curious to see what accounting software I should be using to help maintain my books. I'm not very good with finance so I need some help.
My friend recommended that I use Quickbooks and Profitcents. Quickbooks for the actual account management and Profitcents for the automated financial analysis - I guess they work together.
Does anyone have any recommendations or ideas?
We tried quite a few before we deicded on QB. Give some vendors a call and they will usually send you a free trial version. Another good thing about QB is that if you get Premiere, you can choose an industry-specific version that has features and forms already built in for your business.
Quickbooks has worked out pretty well for me. Come tax time, it has been easy to hand the whole thing of to the accountant for work with the IRS
agreed with QB. Most startup accounting folks I run into seem to use it

Quickbooks was great then it got better with pro. The only problem is for every new thing they add they make you pay for what you liked about a previous edition. First I had QB 96 then I need estimating, so I got Pro2001. With Pro I no longer had payroll now you have to either do it the paper way, buy their service, use someone else's service or another program & couldn't get updates for QB96. I thought I needed something else they came up with in 2004 but decided I didn't like that and so I went back to QBPro2001. I had to manually put in all the data that was different from when I change to 2004 because there is no way to convert new data to an older version of QB.
Now after forming another business we decided we needed to reconcile bank statements. What they don't tell you until after you buy the software is this cost you a service fee of $16.00 a month. Also some data from 2001 doesn't work with the 2008 version. When I open 2008 I get some 6 error messages and support say we don't support 2001 anymore so your error are your tough luck.
Now that said QBooks is a very easy program to learn and use. ALL I'm saying is don't get attached to features in your current version because when they get you to by their next version you may find you now have to PAY and Pay again.
As a Quickbooks beta tester first with version 8 and now version 9 I can say "you ain't seen nuthin' yet"
