Hi!

At least they bring you more UCE (spam) :-)
I doubt that they effect the search engine ranking of your site. Consider that new entries to FFA lists are making yours to fall one position. Therefore you would need to have it weekly re-added again to stay under the top-100. If others have the same idea, you are ending in an addition-war where people try to register their sites several times per day over and over again just to keep top position.
The best advise for driving traffic to your website is still one word: "Content". And "Layout", perhaps ;-)
they are not a huge factor but neither do they hurt. I am starting to see a fair number of hits coming from those directories.
I have never known anyone who could say that the directories were truly worth their time and energy. You might get some traffic, but you'll have to go through some unnecessary headaches to get there. Also, there's no guarantee of the quality of traffic from these.
I finally had time to finish my article about those internet directories I tested out - http://veikoh.wordpress.com/2008/07/...waste-of-time/
Try Wikicommerce.org!
It's a wiki-based site you can add articles about your business for free. I bet it's more effective than 10 link directory submissions.
You can take a look to www.attest.us.
There, you can insert portfolio or news, request testimonials or feedbacks from clients for a company. It´s for free and unlimited.
Anyone seen Intuit's new Jingle Generator?
It's meant to engage small businesses and help them attract new customers. It allows you to type or phone in your company info, and in minutes you have fun, branded content to share with anyone - a customized jingle to The Outfield's "Your Love".
They're hosting it at http://thejinglegenerator.com
Is anyone else using interactive media to support business or reach new customers? And how?

Interesting though the "host" reminds me of Austin Powers.Quote:

Anyone got some info on that?
No Follow links are possible, but at the same time, if you use your URL, under your name, that is a follow link. So your name should be your main keywords :) than those links are counted. Here is a little free guide I put together on getting more back links.
